Virginia's Signature Theatre has announced the full cast for the world premiere production of Kid Victory, a new musical from legendary composer John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) and acclaimed playwright Greg Pierce (Slowgirl).

With the opening night of the world premiere musical Kid Victory fast approaching at Signature Theatre, the company has unveiled a first behind the scenes look with creators John Kander (Cabaret, Chicago), Greg Pierce (Slowgirl) and Liesl Tommy. Check it out below!

'Finding My Voice' 'I still can't hear you' echoed in my head as I left rehearsal the other day. 'I still can't hear you.' Among the notes from Liesl after our first stumble-through were the repeated reminders about my volume and size. 'You're not in an independent film,' she said. Despite doing my homework, tightening my objectives, and warming up my voice: three weeks in and they still can't hear me.

There was a moment today, during our musical rehearsal, when John Kander stood from his seat behind the writers' table. With his first step, the room fell silent. Each subsequent step brought actors further and further towards the edge of their seats as hands of stage managers' discretely turned their phones to camera mode. When he sat down, behind the old, upright rehearsal piano, the focus in the room was unparalleled. His fingers stroked the keys and a brand new version of the verse in question flowed through the chamber of the piano and into the room. No one breathed. Unsure of whether to clap, nod, or cry, we all sat motionless. Jeff Denman, who was sitting next to me, raised his hands in the air and pronounced "John Kander, everybody," and the silence broke in stunned laughter, headshakes, and stifled amen's. It was at that point, sitting around the piano with some of the most talented artists that I've ever had the privilege of meeting, it hit me how surreal this experience was.

The award-winning Boomerang Theatre Company and Artistic Director Tim Errickson, are excited to announce their production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare, directed by John Greenleaf (The Acting Company, Steppenwolf, Australian Elizabethan Theatre; Co-founder Shakespeare on the Hudson), as part of the company's 15 years presenting exceptional outdoor theatre. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM will be presented at Central Park (69th Street and Central Park West), June 21 through July 20, 2014. Tickets are free and do not require a reservation. Producers Betty Ann Besch Solinger and Alice Chebba Walsh will present a private stage reading of the new musical SENSE & SENSIBILITY THE MUSICAL on June 12 and June 13, 2014 in New York. Based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, SENSE & SENSIBILITY THE MUSICAL had a critically acclaimed world premiere in 2013 at the Denver Center Theatre Company. SENSE & SENSIBILITY THE MUSICAL features a book and lyrics by Jeffrey Haddow, music by Neal Hampton and direction, and musical staging by Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime).

White and starring Annalisa Loeffler in a Limited Engagement Special Event at WorkShop Theater Company, January 16-26 in the Jewel Box Theater, 312 West 36th Street, 4th Floor. Running time is approx. 75 minutes with no intermission.
