Dezart Performs has secured 17 nominations for the annual a?oeDesert Star Awardsa?? including the categories of Outstanding Production Comedy and Drama, Director, Lead Actor and Actress, and Set, Sound and Lighting Design. The winners will be announced at the 32nd annual Desert Theatre League Gala on Sunday, October 13.

Lit Live presents the world premiere of And Lightning Struck: Mary Shelley and the Curse of Creation, February 9 through 12 at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. Written by Robert Weibezahl and directed by Austin Robert Miller, this atmospheric historical drama delves into the intimate life of Mary Shelley, the writer of Frankenstein.

There are three new events being unveiled at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Thursday evening: Lit Live, a new local production company, And Lightning Struck, a new play written by the eminent local actor and producer Robert Weibezahl, and a new director, 21-year-old Austin Robert Miller. The show plays for only four performances this weekend. We spoke with Weibezahl and Miller about their new creation, a play about creation itself, the subject being the story behind the writing of one of the most famous novels in English literature, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

DARRYL MAXIMILIAN ROBINSON, who is set to appear as the great Broadway impresario extraordinaire FLORENZ ZIEGFELD, JR. Oct. 14 th -16 th of 2016 in the new CONUNDRUM THEATRE COMPANY revival production of FUNNY GIRL at THE HISTORIC RIALTO THEATRE in South Pasadena, is among the nominees for Best Actor for THE 2015 / 2016 ELATE SEASON TICKET HOLDER AWARDS. Mr. Robinson has been nominated for his performance as the debonair, but aging, leading man Ernest in Tad Mosel's classic one-act allegorical comedy- drama of life in The Theatre, IMPROMPTU, which was a part of THE EMMANUEL LUTHERAN ACTORS THEATRE ENSEMBLE - ELATE evening of four one-acts JUST 4 FUN presented at THE LINCOLN STEGMAN THEATRE in North Hollywood. In addition to Mr. Robinson, his fellow IMPROMPTU cast members: CASEY KRUBINER as Winnifred, JOEY TREZISE as Tony and LUCY KRUBINER as Lora, have all received Best Supporting Performance Award nominations for their fine work in Mosel's play. TAD MOSEL is best known as the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama ALL THE WAY HOME.

English/American relations and what we actually think about each other. Is the relationship sustained? Does it need a little work?

The Dirty Blondes announce HALLOWED GROUND, a textual, collage-based theater piece sculpting familiar and unfamiliar literature to create a one-night performance examining the balance between the search for wealth and the search for inner peace.

This June at the Access Theater (380 Broadway), new theater company The Survivalists will officially launch as they present the premiere of the new play 3x3, or 9 after 9. Written by Michael Christopher, Shane Breaux and Kevin Brewer, the poignant and off-beat comedy will feature a cast of 9 actors playing 22 eccentric characters all in the same NYC apartment building. Steve Spera will serve as director.

The 2012 Actors Studio Drama School are mounting fifteen productions over five weeks for their Repertory Season, all acted and directed by the thirty six MFA students. This is especially true when the world turns out to be not as pretty and full of opportunity as we thought when we were younger. This realization is the focus of Mark Snyder's new play As Wide As I Can See, now playing at the HERE Arts Center. With a fascinating setting full of conflict and juxtaposition and strong performances, the play is on the right track but needs some work before it can reach its fullest potential.
