The New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL), under the baton of music director David Hayes, will appear at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium (881 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019) with Where Even the Sea Sings, Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2018, at 3 pm. This program juxtaposes three composers of very different backgrounds and styles, inspired by a shared commonality in theme: the grandeur of the 'sea.'

The Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Art Song Recital Series will feature American soprano, Nadine Sierra, winner of the 2017 Richard Tucker Award and the 2009 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Finals, in an exclusive recital produced by The Dallas Opera.

Opera at Caramoor (photo: Gabe Palacio) This summer marks not only the 20th anniversary, but also the final season of 'Bel Canto at Caramoor,' the program founded by Director of Opera Will Crutchfield to champion neglected bel canto operas and re-interpret familiar ones. To honor the program's legacy, Caramoor launches the summer season with a gala selection of bel canto's greatest hits in 'A Night of Italian Opera' (June 17) and presents a semi-staged account of Bellini's first bel canto masterpiece, Il pirata (July 8). Mounted in the superb acoustics of the outdoor Venetian Theater on Caramoor's idyllic Westchester estate, both events feature the resident Orchestra of St. Luke's and showcase the exceptional artistry of 2017 Artist-in-Residence Angela Meade - 'the most talked-about soprano of her generation' (Opera News) - who first catapulted to national attention in the title role of Bellini's Norma at Caramoor seven years ago. The New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL) under the direction of its Music Director David Hayes will give the New York Premiere of celebrated Scottish composer James MacMillan's St. Luke Passion. NYCHORAL will be joined by organist Jason Roberts as well as the remarkable Brooklyn Youth Chorus under Artistic Director Dianne Berkun Menaker. James MacMillan's St. Luke Passion, written in 2013, is the second of four planned works, each based on one of the Gospels which aim to approach the differing passion accounts from contrasting stylistic per-spectives. The concert will take place on Saturday evening, April 8, 2017, 8 pm  at the landmark St. Bartholomew's Church, at 51st Street and Park Avenue. The program follows:

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, in partnership with CAP UCLA, presents the first Los Angeles performance since the 1950s of LOST IN THE STARS Kurt Weill's powerful, uncompromising social indictment of apartheid-era South Africa, on Today, January 28, 8 pm, and Sunday, January 29, 2017, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall. 

Celebrating the unique ability of music and the arts to address challenging social and moral issues, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) presents LIFT EVERY VOICE, a three-week, city-wide series of free and ticketed concerts, conversations and community engagement curated by LACO Music Director Jeffrey Kahane from January 14 to 29, 2017, at venues across the Southland. 

The performance schedule has been changed for 'Light Up The Night,' a theatrical concert of rediscovered and restored Yiddish theater songs by Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky, and Secunda, to be presented by National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) January 1 in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, Manhattan.  Originally two shows were planned, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.  The 2:00 PM performance continues as scheduled but the 6:00 PM performance has been canceled.

 To ring in the New Year, on January 1 National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present 'Light Up The Night,' a concert of rediscovered and restored pre- and post-WWII music from the theatrical works of the great composers of the Golden Age of Yiddish Theater.  These include Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky and Secunda.  All are leading songwriters from the era of 'The Golden Bride,' which was presented by Folksbiene Theatre in 2015 and 2016.  The cast will feature performers who were acclaimed in that production, backed by a 16-piece orchestra.  The production is in Yiddish with projected supertitles.  The full concert will be offered twice, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place.

The New York Choral Society (NYChoral) under the direction of its music director David Hayes will ring in the holiday season with a Christmas concert at Alice Tully Hall on Wednesday evening, December 21st, at 7:30 p.m. The program, featuring soloists Frederick Ballentine and Justin Hopkins, will present works by two musical giants of 20th Century American choral music, Robert Shaw, whose 100th birthday would have been this year, and Robert De Cormier, NYChoral Music Director Emeritus, who was awarded the 2016 Michael Korn Founders Award by Chorus America for his lifetime contribution to the choral arts. The concert will also include works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Elizabeth Poston, and James MacMillan, and will end with an audience sing-along of beloved Christmas carols. Mannes School of Music presents two performances of Kaija Saariaho's cornerstone oratorio La Passion de Simone. This "musical path in 15 stations" is a major work crafted by composer Kaija Saariaho and writer Amin Maalouf, and is a contemporary Passion play on the 'luminous trajectory' of philosopher and activist Simone Weil, who devoted her life to the oppressed and met an untimely death in 1943.
