The final block of tickets is now on sale for the Los Angeles Company of the Off-Broadway smash hit Silence! The Musical at the Hayworth Theatre. SILENCE! is now playing through December 9, 2012.

As if you haven't had enough of election year politics, now comes the 2012 National Plays for Presidents Festival. However, this lighthearted two-hour tour of presidential history is a good way to wean yourself off the non-stop 24/7 flood of political advertisements and opponent-bashing.

Today's spotlight falls upon Kay Ayers, one of Nashville's favorite and most versatile actresses, who this weekend completes her run as Melpomene in Boiler Room Theatre's production of Xanadu, in which she delivers a "deliciously wicked" performance (paired with Julie Brown-of "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" fame-doppelganger Jordan Tudor), which allows her to show off her gorgeous voice and her dead-on comic timing.

Pure, unadulterated escapism, Xanadu is laugh-out-loud funny, thanks primarily to the book by Douglas Carter Beane, but you have to give props to director Corbin Green and his talented cast who bring the completely ridiculous musical (featuring the music of Electric Light Orchestra's Jeff Lynne and John Farrar) to life onstage.
