Composer Jimmy López and librettist Nilo Cruz heard their music and words come to life recently when members of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago sang through portions of Bel Canto backstage at the Civic Opera House on Friday, July 11. Sir Andrew Davis conducted the workshop, with pianists Maureen Zoltek and Craig Terry accompanying 11 singers performing multiple roles.

The surprise hit of last fall - Small Stage point 5 - returns for a second installment on July 4 & 5, 2014 at 8pm & 10:30pm at The Emerald Gore Street's swanky, Rat Pack-inspired supper club & lounge. The bold series challenges local independent musicians and dance artists to step outside their comfort zones to create and perform interdisciplinary collaborations. The result is an intimate evening full of experiment, harmony, and surprise.

Live at the 'bolt presents Dances for a Small Stage: Summer Lovin' in association with the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on June 20 and 21 at 8pm. The MovEnt production brings a wildly eclectic group of dance artists and musicians to animate the Shadbolt Centre's beautifully manicured South Lawn with a dazzling range of original creations. The evening will also mark Lower Mainland dance audiences' first opportunity to see fan-favourite Makaila Wallace perform in her own creation since her January departure from Ballet BC.

ABC continues its commitment to world-class storytelling and new creative voices with the announcement of its 2014-15 slate of programming, including the addition of 12 new series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Cho will join DOCTOR WHO's Karen Gillan in ABC's modern spin on MY FAIR LADY, SELFIE, directed by Julie Anne Robinson from a script by Emily Kapnek (Suburgatory). The cast also includes Allyn Rachel, Tim Peper, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and David Harewood.

This spring, MovEnt brings the act of collective artistic creation into five Vancouver Community Centres with the launch of Community Stages. Running now through May 30, 2014, the inaugural project pairs local professional dancers and musicians to openly collaborate and develop works at gathering spaces across the city.
