All across the greater Houston area, public schools and post-secondary college and universities are back in session. Students are hopefully becoming enlightened through quality education. However, to kick off their annual Get Talking Series, Stages Repertory Theatre is giving audiences something to talk about with their production of David Davalos' WITTENBERG. Other entries into this year's trilogy include upcoming productions of Julia Cho's THE LANGUAGE ARCHIVE and Rebecca Gilman's DOLLHOUSE.

Stages Begins Regional Premiere of WITTENBERG

Associate Artistic Director Josh Morrison will direct the regional premiere of David Davalos' Wittenberg, a play set in 1517 in the university town that was home to the legendary Dr. Faustus, Martin Luther, and Shakespeare's fictional tragic-hero Hamlet. Supposing the characters are there at the same moment in time, Davalos creates a playground on which Faustus and Luther volley for influence on young (undecided major) undergrad Hamlet.

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, is presenting the New Jersey premiere of Julia Cho's Off-Broadway hit, The Language Archive. This comedy of the heart explores the mysterious language of love, which often fails when it is needed most. The Language Archive plays January 25 through February 10, with talkbacks following the January 27 and February 3 matinees.

Vineyard Theatre continues its series of one-night-only readings of notable plays from its acclaimed history in celebration of the company's 30th Anniversary with Nicky Silver's award winning 1993 hit PTERODACTYLS, directed by Trip Cullman. An absurdist black comedy about the demise of the Duncan family, and, by extension, the species, PTERODACTYLS will feature Emmy Award-winner Penny Fuller (THE DINNER PARTY, APPLAUSE) as Duncan family matriarch, Grace; Tony-nominee Bobby Steggert (RAGTIME) as son, Todd; Virginia Kull (THE HEIRESS) as daughter, Emma; and Claybourne Elder (BONNIE & CLYDE) as Emma's fiance Tommy (the role of family patriarch, Arthur, is TBD).

The 06 Ensemble Presents BENCH PROJECT 2, Now thru 12/9

Bench Project 2 features seven short works that take place on benches written specifically for The 06 Ensemble and runs tonight, December 7th through December 9th, 2012 at the Pear Avenue Theater, located at 1220 Pear Avenue, Unit K in Mountain View, near the intersection of Highway 101 and Shoreline Boulevard, with admission consisting of warm jackets that will be donated to those in need, just in time for Winter.
