The Met Opera's 2019-2020 Live In HD Season On Sale At The Majestic Theater July 17

The Metropolitan Opera's 2019-2020 Live in HD season of satellite transmissions to movie theaters worldwide begins Oct. 12 with the late Franco Zeffirelli's sumptuous production of Puccini's "Turandot." The series brings live Met performances to movie theaters and performing arts centers in more than 70 countries on six continents, including Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 17 at noon.

Written in 1868, the year that the Finborough Theatre's building was constructed, The first London production in over 120 years of Dion Boucicault's rip-roaring Victorian melodrama, After Dark; or, A Drama of London Life, directed by the multi-award-winning Phil Willmott, opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Wednesday, 12 June 2019 (Press Nights: Wednesday, 19 June 2019 and Thursday, 20 June 2019 at 7.30pm).

There have been many versions on the Cinderella story over the years, with everyone from Rossini to Walt Disney creating their own version of the tale.  A rarely heard take on Cinderella is by French composer Jules Massenet.  His Cendrillon, which debuted in 1899, will be presented by Opera Company of Middlebury from May 31-June 8 at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater.

20th Anniversary Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Competition Enters Finals Week

The world's largest student ballet scholarship competition - YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season, with its NYC Finals held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The week of ballet festivities will include YAGP's Final Round (April 17th), YAGP's critically acclaimed Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala performance and dinner (April 18th), with a repeat Gala performance on April 19th. Lastly, on April 20th, YAGP will present an International Dance School Festival, where dancers from all over the globe will perform works representing each school's style and artistic tradition, ranging from beloved classics to cutting-edge contemporary dance.

Utah Opera Announces 2019-20 Season

Artistic Director Christopher McBeth today announced the programming, initial casting, and creative teams for Utah Opera's 2019-20 season, sponsored by the George S. and Dolores Dor Eccles Foundation. In its upcoming season, Utah Opera produces four operas at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre: Verdi's La traviata in October 2019, Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell's Silent Night in January 2020, Rossini's The Barber of Seville in March 2020, and Massenet's Tha s in May 2020. Both Silent Night and Tha s are company premieres. Season subscriptions are on sale now by calling (801) 533-6683 or visiting utahopera.org. Single-opera tickets go on sale to the general public on June 14, 2019 through Utah Opera and ArtTix outlets.

Producer John Lant, Write Act Repertory and Tamra Pica have announced that FRANKENSTEIN, playing Off-Broadway at St. Luke's Theatre on Mondays at 7 PM, has added another Friday matinee at 11 AM; on Feb. 15, March 22 and now April 12, to accommodate school trips; It is an open run, with tickets now on sale through April. As preparations for the 2019 Festival continue, Artistic Director of Wexford Festival Opera, David Agler, has confirmed a change to one of the main evening operas.  Dorilla in Tempe by Antonio Vivaldi will replace the previously announced Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber.
