Whether it is a about a young girl making good on Broadway or two crooked producers trying not to make good, the world of entertainment is a fascinating place. However, does the theater really need another show about the business of show? It does when it is as delightful as Josephine Tonight.

Singer/dancer/showgirl Josephine Baker (born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1906) tintillated audiences worldwide with her banana dance and became the sensation of Paris, France, her permanent home once she renounced her American citizenship in 1937. Her life in the US was hardly an easy one, victimized by racial injustice since childhood. Despite her fame, she had even been thrown out of the prestigious Stork Club in New York, due to color constraints. Now in a two-act solo show that includes song, dance and anecdotes, classy Sloan Robinson portrays the uniquely sensual Baker with unmistakable style.

Josephine Baker, the legendary American-born entertainer who danced at the Follies Bergere becoming the "Toast of Paris' as well as one of the world's most beloved activists in search of equal nights, will once again be in the spotlight when an extensive exhibit of her films, posters and art, launches the month-long exhibit held annually by owner-curator Naomi Wilzig to honor Black History Month and African Art Wednesday, February 1 at an 8 P.M. reception at The World Erotic Art Museum (WEAM), 1205 Washington Avenue.
