Playwrights Horizons' production THE WHALE, the New York premiere of a new play by Obie Award winner Samuel D. Classic Stage Company's new production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV, starring Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, and directed by Austin Pendleton, begins previews Wednesday, October 17 at CSC (136 East 13th Street), prior to an official opening Sunday, November 4. IVANOV has extended its run by popular demand through Sunday, December 9. Hawke, in the title role, Richardson, who will play Anna, and Rylance, who will play Sasha, will be joined in IVANOV by Glenn Fitzgerald (Borkin), Annette Hunt (Avdotya Nazarovna), Stephanie Janssen (Babakina), Roberta Maxwell (Zinaida), George Morfogen (Shabelsky), James Patrick Nelson (Kosykh), Anthony Newfield (Guest), Jonathan Marc Sherman (Lvov), Anne Troupe (Gavrila) and Louis Zorich (Lebedev).

Erik Jensen will join the cast of the LCT3 production of Disgraced, a new play by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior, beginning tonight, Wednesday, October 10. Mr. Jensen will assume the role of Isaac from Adam Dannheisser, who is recovering from an illness which forced him to withdraw from the production. Disgraced began previews Sunday, October 7 and will open on Monday, October 22 for a limited engagement at the Claire Tow Theater, 150 West 65 Street.

Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, today announced the cast of the world premiere stage adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Man in a Case, featuring Mikhail Baryshnikov, on stage from February 21 through March 24. Press night is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 27. Opening night is at 8 p.m. Friday, March 1.

Hawke, in the title role, and Richardson, who will play Anna, will be joined in IVANOV by Glenn Fitzgerald (Borkin), Roberta Maxwell (Zinaida), George Morfogen (Shabelsky), Juliet Rylance (Sasha), Jonathan Marc Sherman (Lvov) and Louis Zorich (Lebedev). IVANOV, which will have its official opening on Sunday, November 4, will play a limited engagement through Sunday, November 25. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, September 20.

Marin Theatre Company, in a co-production with Encore Theatre Company of San Francisco, opens its 2012/13 Season with the regional premiere of Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker, which runs tonight, August 2 to August 26.

According to Hollywood.com, Spike Lee, who directed Undisputed Truth that opened last week at the Longacre Theatre, wants to bring 'Do the Right Thing' to Broadway next. Lee revealed that he is 'talking to Sir James Nederlander about it.'
