Executive producer Carlton Cuse turned toTwitter to announce the news that 'The Lord of the Rings' star Sean Astin has signed on to the cast of FX's THE STRAIN

Carlton Cuse, showrunner for THE STRAIN, announced today on Twitter that Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) will be joining the FX drama pilot, based on the best-selling vampire novel trilogy from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro and author Chuck Hogan. Astin joins previously announced star Corey Stoll (House of Cards).
