New Ohio Theatre & IRT's Archive Residency Premieres FROM BUILT FOR COLLAPSE & ANECDOTA

The Archive Residency is a vital incubator for New York City's most electrifying independent theater companies. This two-year residency offers companies an artistic home for the development and presentation of a new work. Each residency culminates with a world premiere production. Now in its fifth year, the Archive Residency is a collaboration between New Ohio Theatre and IRT Theater (likeminded neighbors in the historic Archive Building in the West Village).

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts is pleased to announce programming for its inaugural summer 2018 season, which will fill venues surrounding the organization's highly anticipated new facility in Catskill, New York-set to open its own doors in Fall 2018. The season,which runs from June 28 - September 1, represents the fullest realization to date of LUMBERYARD's unique dual promise: to make transformative contributions both to the cultural landscape and economic health of Upstate New York and to the field of contemporary performance in New York City and the U.S. by bringing renowned and emerging artists across the performing arts landscape to Catskill for out-of-town premieres, usually incubated through LUMBERYARD's signature technical residencies.

Tickets for the 42nd season of Spoleto Festival USA go on sale to the public today at 10:00am. Tickets can be purchased anytime at spoletousa.org or by phone at 843.579.3100, Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm. On-site box office operations will be located at the Charleston Gaillard Center beginning May 1; tickets may then be purchased in person Monday through Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents a dance commission, Battleground by Ryan McNamara, January 10 - 12, 2018 at 7:30pm. Following the sold-out premiere of Battleground in 2016, Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents an encore of this 'Cosplay-Battle-Ballet' on January 10-12, 2017 at 7:30pm. During a rare residency opportunity that spanned five months, McNamara created a one-of-a-kind work made in and for the unique architecture of the Guggenheim's Peter B. Lewis Theater. Audience members act as embedded witnesses to the three dance squads battling for dominance in each of the space's three zones: the Red Choir Loft, the Green Balcony, and the Blue Stage.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents an encore of choreographer Jodi Melnick's sold-out 2016 commission, NEW BODIES. This Works & Process commissioned work weaves together dance, spoken text, and moderated discussion with live music, featuring New York City Ballet dancers Jared Angle, Sara Mearns, and Taylor Stanley in a role originated by Gretchen Smith, with harpsichord by composer Gy rgy Ligeti, violin by composer Heinrich Biber, and commissioned music by Robert Boston. Also, Melnick, who enjoyed a performance career with Twyla Tharp (among many others), will perform One of Sixty-Five Thousand Gestures, a solo work created in collaboration with the late Trisha Brown.

'Over seventy years ago, Frank Lloyd Wright sketched a room to be built under the Guggenheim. People seem to think it's a theater. In actuality, it's a set Wright prophetically designed for the sci-fi cosplay house-music ballet-battle that fell into my mind the moment I saw the space. The Peter B. The Martha Hill Dance Fund is pleased to announce The 2017 Martha Hill Awards Gala, which will take place Monday, November 20, 6 to 10 PM, at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York City. This year the Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are dance historian and archivist NORTON OWEN and dance educator ALICE TEIRSTEIN. The 2017 Mid-Career Award recipients are choreographer ROBERT GARLAND and dance activist DENISE HURLIN ROBERTS. The Martha Hill Dance Fund continues to perpetuate the legacy of a remarkable woman whose influence in the world of dance and performance knew no bounds.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) presents the 16th annual River To River Festival, Downtown New York City's completely free summer arts festival, June 14-25. The 2017 edition presents an array of performances and events exploring and celebrating diversity in all its forms-often blurring the lines between genres including dance, music, theater and the visual arts-over the course of 100+ performances and events spanning 17 projects at 31 unique sites across Lower Manhattan and Governors Island. The Festival also offers opportunities for audiences to interact with artists, socialize and experience multiple facets of artists' work and the creative process.
