Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is pleased to announce Rue Montorgueil, a joyful short film that sprang to life on a bustling Parisian street when Ailey company members performed with local dancers - people of different backgrounds, talents and nationalities joined together through the universal language of dance. Recognized by U.S. Congressional resolution as a vital American Cultural Ambassador to the World, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater participated in the project during a 10-week international tour throughout Europe led by Artistic Director Robert Battle. Fittingly, it is being released on United Nations Day, which celebrates the founding and ideals of the UN, with an official theme this year of Potential in Diversity.

At a festive ribbon-cutting, celebrated on the evening of October 18, leaders of the Ailey organization joined with dancers, students, donors, and friends from New York City's dance community to open The Elaine Wynn & Family Education Wing, a 10,000-square-foot expansion of Ailey's permanent home, The Joan Weill Center for Dance.

Organized around New York City metropolitan area performance activity at the nexus of disability and dance, the series features leading artists working at that nexus in conversation with their presenters. The goals of the series are to drive awareness and interest in dance made by and with disabled artists, capture and share lessons learned by featured artists, and generate dialogue and partnerships among attendees. Featured artists are grantees of Dance/NYC's Disability. Dance. Artistry. Fund, created to advance dance making by and with disabled artists.
