In October of 1971, three days after the original Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar began its week and a half of previews, the title song of what is considered to be the world's first rock opera was heard on American television's highest-rated show.  No, it wasn't The Ed Sullivan Show, which had ended its run earlier in the year, but the controversial new sitcom, All In The Family.

BWW is excited to share a first look at production photos of the supernatural power of love, which has arrived on Broadway this spring as Ghost The Musical! The show, adapted from the Academy Award winning film, opens Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Damian Arnold, will present the Broadway premiere of Marc Camoletti's classic farce Don't Dress For Dinner, starring Ben Daniels as "Robert," Adam James as "Bernard," Patricia Kalember as "Jacqueline" and Jennifer Tilly as "Suzanne" with Spencer Kayden as "Suzette" and David Aron Damane as "George."

Before the audience members began to take their seats for the Off-Broadway premiere of Once this past December, members of the press were already sent an email announcing that the production would be moving to Broadway following its limited run at the New York Theatre Workshop.  Thus, the fact that the critical response to the show supported such a move seemed superfluous.

Actor Paul Nolan is currently making his Broadway debut as 'Jesus' in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. In a recent chat with BWW, the actor shared his thoughts on what it is like to portray the famed biblical character in this iconic rock opera.

In the years between the fall of vaudeville and the rise of Comedy Clubs, Americans looking to enjoy some live stand-up would frequently gather at their local jazz venue, where rising stars like Lenny Bruce and Mort Saul would offer their observations in a rhythmic style that many would say mimicked the licks themselves.  In his musical tale of losing his job, No Place To Go, playwright/composer/lyricist/performer Ethan Lipton tells the story of mounting disappointments in wry growls of spoken comical riffs that glide into an after-hours score heavily infused with jazz and blues.

The new Broadway musical, COME FLY AWAY, conceived, choreographed, and directed by Tony Award-winner Twyla Tharp and by special arrangement with the Frank Sinatra Family and Frank Sinatra Enterprises, will open at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County on March 20, 2012.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's Pipe Dream, the second Encores! production of the 2011-12 season, will run March 28 - April 1 at City Center, with Will Chase, Laura Osnes, Leslie Uggams, Stephen Wallem and Tom Wopat. Pipe Dream will be directed by Marc Bruni with music direction by Rob Berman and choreography by Kelli Barclay.
