As previously announced, the thrilling work of multi-million selling author Peter James returns to theatres in January 2019 with the world premiere production of the spine-chilling stage play The House on Cold Hill - Adapted from his best-selling 2015 novel and based on the author's own real-life experience in a haunted house, the play will star the previously announced, BAFTA nominated actor and winner of BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing 2017, Joe McFadden (The Crow Road, Heartbeat, Holby City) as 'Ollie Harcourt' and joining him, as his wife 'Caro Harcourt', will be award winning actress Rita Simons, (who played the iconic Roxy Mitchell in Eastenders), as well as award winning actors, Charlie Clements ('Bradley' in EastEnders) as 'Chris', and Persephone Swales-Dawson (villainess 'Nico Blake' in Hollyoaks) as 'Jade', making her professional stage debut.

The British appetite for thrillers is seemingly unquenchable. Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap has now been running for 65 years in London and detective and murder mystery stories are standard Sunday night television fare. Adam Penfold's revival of Ira Levin's 1978 Broadway hit Deathtrap is obviously intended to take advantage to that public craving for a thriller. Unfortunately, after a promising start, this production fails to either shock or thrill.

We are looking at ensemble-based, performance-driven pieces that don't get produced often within the regional theatre landscape. The artistic leadership consists of Co-Artistic Directors Ashley H. A host of new shows have been added to the Lyceum Theatre's line-up, including master illusionist Derren Brown, a stage adaptation of best-selling novel The Kite Runner, and looking ahead to 2018, the return of everyone's favourite ogre in Shrek The Musical.
