Beginning May 1, 2010 Genet and Saroyan will be on display in a double-bill at the American Theatre for Actors (314 W. 54th Street). Nutshell Productions will present ' Spend a Night in Jail' including the plays HELLO OUT THERE by William Saroyan, directed by Robert Haufrecht and DEATHWATCH by Jean Genet, directed by Richard Hymes-Esposito.

Deaf West Theatre, Ed Waterstreet, Artistic Director, has announced their next production, My Sister In This House by Wendy Kesselman. Directed by Michael Unger, My Sister In This House will begin previews on Saturday, April 10 and is set to open on Saturday, April 17 at 8pm. The engagement will run through Sunday, May 30.

The evening honors New York-based conceptual artist Glenn Ligon, with a tribute by actor, director, and artist James Franco, and L.A. philanthropist Tim Disney, with a tribute by friend and actor Alfre Woodard.

Richard Schechner Wins 2010 Thalia Award

New York University professor and professor of performance studies in the department of Performance Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts Richard Schechner has been awarded the 2010 Thalia Award. The award is presented annually by the International Association of Theatre Critics and will be given to Schechner at a ceremony in Yerevan, Armenia June 16th to 20th.
