Arts And Culture Festival And August Street Fair Announced by Detroit Repertory Theatre

The Detroit Repertory Theatre, in partnership with neighbors Dream of Detroit, the HUDA Clinic, Muslim Center, and HUG Community Garden, is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Arts & Culture Festival and Street Fair at its home in the geographical center of Detroit on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10 am to 8 pm. This free, all day, outdoor event is made possible by a grant from ART Ops, and Community HeART of Highland Park and is a celebration of the arts, neighborhood revitalization, healthy living, community, and the power of diversity acting in unity in Detroit.

For more than 40 years, the school has delivered the Houston Shakespeare Festival (HSF) to eager audiences. This year's event will continue this tradition with free performances of 'Much Ado About Nothing' directed by Jack Young and 'Henry V' directed by Lenny Banovez. Performances run July 29 through Aug. 7 at Hermann Park's Miller Outdoor Theatre (6000 Hermann Park Dr.). All performances begin at 8:15 p.m.

Donald Margulies has a lot to say about modern life in his 2009 drama TIME STANDS STILL. The multifaceted piece pins a savvy photojournalist against desires to start a family and leaves her questioning the true impact of her work. Likewise, the skillful acting that occurs on the stage at Main Street Theater - Rice Village leaves the audience with plenty to think and talk about on the car ride home.
