The Apollo Theater, in partnership with World Music Institute, presents Africa Now! South Africa, the third installment of the their annual Africa Now! Festival. In recognition of the country's dynamic and diverse culture and in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's inauguration, this season's festival will spotlight today's contemporary South African music scene and Harlem's enduring cultural and social relationship with the country. Featuring a suite of artistic programming and an array of unique artists, Africa Now! South Africa will provide a holistic experience for audiences with presentations on the Apollo's mainstage and soundstage.

The stage unit of Iron Violet Productions, Iron Violet Stage, in association with Denman Turner Entertainment Group, will present a staged reading of 'Birthday Pie', written by best-selling author, and playwright, Arthur Wooten on September 29th, 2014, at 7:30 PM. The performance will be held on the renovated stage at the historic Irvington Town Hall Theater, in Irvington, New York -- thirty minutes from Manhattan, by train. There will be a 'talk-back' with the author, and producer(s).

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night (August 26) to present Honorary Awards to Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki and Maureen O'Hara, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Harry Belafonte.
