New York Festival of Song Presents WOMEN 12/04

The NEW YORK FESTIVAL OF SONG (NYFOS) presents a new program entitled Women, on Tuesday, December 4 at 8:00PM at Merkin Concert Hall. One of the highlights of its 2012-2013 season, this will be an evening exploring the lives of women, narrated both in their own words, and also observed through the eyes of men.

Award-winning composer and writer Platt hosts and curates an hour of music showcasing the work of multi-dimensional artists and composers, including Harold Meltzer, Lisa Bielawa, Carla Kihlstedt, Gilda Lyons, and Colin Jacobsen, as well as his own.

AMPHIBIAN concert series presents Cygnus Ensemble performing Venerable Canons, works by Matthew Greenbaum, David Rakowski, Milton Babbitt, Shoko Suzuki, David Claman and Chester Biscardi on Tuesday, April 3rd at 8pm. Cygnus Ensemble launches its Washington, D.C. debut with a 2012 mini-residency at the Library of Congress kicking off with a tribute to composer/violinist Fritz Kreisler. The program includes seldom-heard chamber music by the Austrian master from the Library of Congress' Fritz Kreisler Collection, and presents the world premiere of a new Library commission by Harold Meltzer, co-founder of the Sequitur ensemble.
