An army of artists including Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, Andrew Scott, Bertie Carvel, Jeremy Irvine, Jessica Brown Findlay, and many more will read Homer's sequel, THE ODYSSEY, which will be live-streamed free from unusual and iconic locations across London to celebrate the end of Almeida Greeks, today 12 November 2015.

An army of artists including Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, Andrew Scott, Bertie Carvel, Jeremy Irvine, Jessica Brown Findlay, and many more will read Homer's sequel, THE ODYSSEY, which will be live-streamed free from unusual and iconic locations across London to celebrate the end of Almeida Greeks, on Thursday 12 November 2015.

A company of more than 60 artists will bring The Iliad to life in a durational reading on Friday 14 August. The reading will begin at the British Museum and culminate on the Almeida stage. The marathon reading is the latest event in the theatre's Almeida Greeks Festival which has so far seen Robert Icke's critically acclaimed production of Oresteia transfer to Trafalgar Studios in the West End and James Macdonald's production of Bakkhai play to sold out houses at the Almeida.

The Almeida Theatre's critically acclaimed, sold out production of Oresteia, by Aeschylus, re-imagined for the modern stage by Almeida Associate Director Robert Icke (The Fever, Mr Burns, 1984) will transfer to the Trafalgar Studios in the West End from August. Press night September 7th.

ORESTEIA, in a modern reimagining by Almeida Associate Director Robert Icke, will be transferring to Trafalgar Studios late next month -- original company intact.

 Julia will be played by Janine Harouni until 25 July, and then Hara Yannas from 27 July to the end of the run. Simon Coates, Tim Dutton, Stephen Fewell, Christopher Patrick Nolan, Ben Porter, Gavin Spokes and Mandi Symonds complete the cast.

Matthew Spencer will play the role of George Orwell's Winston Smith in the hit West End stage production of 1984 this summer.              Julia will be played by Janine Harouni until 25 July, and then Hara Yannas from 27 July to the end of the run. Casting is today announced for Oresteia, reimagined for the modern stage by Almeida Associate Director Robert Icke (The Fever, Mr Burns, 1984), in its first major London production in more than a decade.

'Orwellian' is a word understood by millions of people who have never read George Orwell's books; 'Big Brother' and 'Room 101' are television shows that feel like they have been around since 1984; and screens fill our homes which we use to 'interact'.
