The Adelphi Orchestra to Perform Ravel in AT THE BALLET

Cincinnati May Festival Names New Principal Conductor

Following an extensive, global search, the Cincinnati May Festival announced Juanjo Mena as the Principal Conductor for three years starting in the 2017-18 season. He will lead two performances at the 2018 May Festival and begins duties as the Principal Conductor Designate immediately.

Guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in three weeks of programs that focus on symphonic and operatic repertoire by Ravel, Debussy and Messiaen, as part of the French Reveries & Passions festival, which begins May 3. In addition to three CSO programs, the three-week festival also includes recitals by two young French pianists, an evening of jazz by French artists, chamber music performed by CSO musicians and the CSO's Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant Yo-Yo Ma, a performance by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and a public discussion between the CSO's Creative Director of Beyond The Score® Gerard McBurney and the Art Institute of Chicago's David and Mary Winton Green curator and Impressionist expert Gloria Groom.

L.A. Philharmonic Releases Shostakovich Album Today, 6/19

The Los Angeles Philharmonic continues its collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon with the new release of two works by Shostakovich - the world premiere of the Prologue to Orango and Symphony No. 4. Both works, led by LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, were recorded live at Walt Disney Concert Hall in December of 2011. The 2-disc set will be available as of today, June 19, 2012.

The large-scale spectacle and public art group Redmoon has announced that co-Artistic Director Jim Lasko has been named a 2013 recipient of the prestigious Loeb Fellowship at Harvard University. The Loeb Fellowship is annually awarded to ten individuals in the middle of promising careers shaping built and natural environments in the areas of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and occasionally artists, which attend Harvard for a one-year residency at the Graduate School of Design (GSD).

The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Classical KUSC in partnership with WFMT Radio Network, have confirmed 150 markets nationwide will carry the annual radio broadcast concert series (a number that will grow throughout the coming year). The 2011 series was broadcast in 193 markets and reached over 2.6 million listeners.
