New York Live Arts and The Dauphine of Bushwick present PRETTY BALL, November 6, 2016, 6pm to 10pm, a closing night dance party celebrating the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company's presentation of Analogy Trilogy Parts I and II at The Joyce Theater.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announce legendary tap innovator and choreographer Brenda Bufalino as the recipient of the 2016 NY Dance and Performance Award for Lifetime Achievement in Dance; and The Jerome Robbins Dance Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and Alex Smith, Executive Chairman of the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center, as this year's recipients of Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance.

Easton's American Monarch Theatre Company (AMTC) will open its 2016-2017 inaugural season with the musical, The Last Five Years. Performances are October 15th at 8 p.m. and October 16th at 3 p.m. in the Gold Room of the Grand Eastonian Hotel in Easton, PA. Tickets are $20.

This September 23rd, Tony nominated, Emmy, Helen Hays and Outer Critics Award-Winning tap dancer and choreographer Ted Louis Levy ('Black and Blue,' 'Jelly's Last Jam,' 'Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk') will present 'Swing the Vote,' a 90-minute tap dance production at the Roulette Theater in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn at 8:00pm.

There may be 'no second acts in American lives' - thank you, Fitzgerald - and yet Enrique Cruz DeJesus has lived so many exciting chapters that seven or eight books could be devoted to his journey. Mr. DeJesus has been the Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer of Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company since 1998, inheriting directorship of this nearly 45 years old company from Andy Torres during a time when the future was anything but certain. Having led a successful concert dance career - that saw him working with Eleo Pomare, Talley Beatty, Gary Deloatch, Martial Roumain and George Faison - Mr. DeJesus transitioned in to a highly successful theatre career with his stage debut at Shakespeare in the Park's production of 'Measure for Measure' under the direction of George C. Wolfe.

On Today, July 16, 2016, at 4 pm, Cres will make her long awaited return to the stage at the Metropolitan Room, 34 W 22nd Street, New York, New York. Joining Cres will be Grammy nominated percussionist, Wilson 'Chembo' Corniel; award winning pianist, Dawrin Noguera; acclaimed bassist, Paul Beaudry; and acclaimed drummer, Willie Martinez.

The Riant Theatre (Van Dirk Fisher, Artistic Director), a nonprofit theatre supporting playwrights and theatremakers of diverse cultural backgrounds, held the Launch Party for its annual Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival, which takes place from July 14th-31st. The evening included the presentation of 2016 Pioneer of the Arts Award For Outstanding Achievement In Television and Theatre to the Emmy-winning stage, film and TV actor Joe Morton, Tony Nominee and eight time AUDELCO Award winner, Andre De Shields, the acclaimed Broadway and television actress Barbara Montgomery, and multiple Grammy Award winner, Broadway musical director and arranger Chapman Roberts.

This world premiere collaboration will take place in three boroughs-Bronx, Queens and Harlem-over three Todays, June 4, 11 and 13. The Phoenix Project will make its Bronx debut at the New York Botanical Garden's award-winning and picturesque Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden on June 4. In the subsequent weekends, the piece will move with excerpts of the full work to Queens at the Queensbridge Riis Senior Center on June 11, and close their performances as part of the Summer on the Hudson Festival at the West Harlem Piers Park on June 18 as part of a Family Day event.

DanceAfrica, BAM's longest continuing program, enters its 39th year with new Artistic Director Abdel R. Salaam leading this traditional Memorial Day weekend extravaganza, beginning today, May 25, and continuing through May 30.

Ebony Jo-Ann, a 'Blackgold' acclaimed Blues vocalist, multiple award winning Broadway, film and television actress, and social activist, is in residence during the month of April at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, 254 W. 72nd St. in New York, for the first time since 2011, to reprise Nuttin' But the Blues, the Sugar Bar's weekly Blues series, which she co-created with the late Nick Ashford.
