Students from AMDA, CAP21, Julliard, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Melon, Marymount and The New School will make their Broadway debut on the stage of The Town Hall.

Internationally known opera star Angela Brown, who honed her craft at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, is on a mission: the down-to-earth soprano with the voice of an angel seeks to bring opera to the masses. Brown will return to Bloomington for a July 30, 8 p.m. performance of her witty solo show, 'Opera from a Sistah's Point of View,' at the Musical Arts Center. Cliff Jackson will accompany her on piano.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the crown jewel of Ravinia's classical programming, begins its 74th annual summer residency at the festival with a concert at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 28, featuring piano virtuoso Garrick Ohlsson and conducted by Ravinia Music Director James Conlon.

Dale Gutzman, founder and artistic director of Off The Wall Theatre, is returning to Skylight Opera Theatre to premier his new work, An Evening with Gilbert & Sullivan. Gutzman not only wrote the show but will also be directing it. He is no stranger to the Skylight, having directed twenty-three shows in the 1970s and 80s.

Created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for the Town Hall, the new Broadway performers include Norm Lewis (The Little Mermaid), Karen Mason (Mama Mia!), Astaire Award-winner Spencer Liff (Cry- Baby), Michael Winther (Mama Mia!), Douglas Ladnier (Jekyll & Hyde) and Ann Harada (Avenue Q).

Everyman Theatre's Baltimore will close the 09/10 season with the premiere of Blackbird, Examines the Boundaries of Love, May 12 through June 13. Blackbird, a haunting, powerful drama that has left London and New York audiences breathless. The Baltimore premiere directed by Derek Goldman will star Everyman Resident Company member Megan Anderson and David Parkes in his Everyman debut. Offering up greater variety, including more than 50 debuts from Sting to Wagnerian tenor John Treleaven, Ravinia Festival Chairperson Pamela B. Strobel and President and CEO Welz Kauffman today announced details of the 2010 season, including a Chicago Symphony Orchestra residency that celebrates major anniversaries of Mahler, Chopin, Schumann, Barber, Bernstein and Copland, as well as milestone birthdays of Music Director James Conlon, Christoph Eschenbach and Stephen Sondheim. The season, featuring 117 separate events, runs from June 3 through September 7.
