Lookingglass Theatre Company presents its 50th World Premiere with its production of the Lookingglass Original, The Brothers Karamazov, written and directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman, adapted from the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. The production runs October 15- December 7, 2008 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The press opening is Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.

Lindo to Direct Turner's 'Come and Gone' At Berkley Rep

Renowned actor Delroy Lindo returns to Berkeley Repertory Theatre with the play that netted him a nomination for the Tony Award - but this time, he's in the director's chair. Following last year's triumph with Tanya Barfield's Blue Door, Lindo takes on August Wilson's African-American epic, Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Staged in the state-of-the-art Roda Theatre, this show begins previews on October 31, opens November 5, and closes December 14. Joe Turner is produced in association with the Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, thanks to executive producers Wayne Jordan and Quinn Delaney and Felicia Woytak and Steve Rasmussen. BART and Wells Fargo are the season sponsors for Berkeley Rep's 41st year of fearless theatre.

As part of a 40-year tradition of engaging theatregoers in passionate dialogue about its work, the Tony Award-winning company launched its backstage blog this week. Berkeley Rep to End 2008/2009 Season with 'You, Nero'

Tony Taccone, the artistic director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre, announced today that the Tony Award-winning company will conclude its 2008/09 Season with the world premiere of You, Nero, a new comedy written by Amy Freed and directed by Sharon Ott, will rule the Thrust Stage from May 8 through June 21, 2009. Starring Danny Scheie as the preposterous emperor of ancient Rome, You, Nero will be produced in association with South Coast Repertory, where it debuts in January.
Berkley Rep Announces New Board Officers and Members

Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that its board of directors has elected two new board members as well as two new board officers. These community leaders will guide the Tony Award-winning theatre as it enters its thrilling 41st season this fall. The leadership of Julie Matlof Kennedy and Oz Erickson will benefit Berkeley Rep for the first time, and this season's new officers include Marge Randolph and Scott Haber. Their guidance will be invaluable in the coming season, which features work by renowned directors Delroy Lindo, Sharon Ott, Les Waters, and Mary Zimmerman, as well as award-winning playwrights Martin McDonagh, Sarah Ruhl, and Berkeley's own Itamar Moses.

The season kicks off with the world premiere of Yellowjackets by Itamar Moses. Followed August Wilson's masterpiece Joe Turner's Come and Gone; Mary Zimmerman's The Arabian Nights; the world premiere of The Vibrator Play by Sarah Ruhl;Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment; and Waters tackles Martin McDonagh again in The Lieutenant of Inishmore. The season concludes with David Henry Hwang's Berkeley Rep debut, Yellow Face.
