The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College have announced a grant award totaling $80,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the recovery of the nonprofit arts and culture sector. Following New York state's historic investment for the arts, NYSCA has awarded $90 million since spring 2022 to a record number of artists and organizations across the state.

Lawrence Edelson, Artistic and General Director of Opera Saratoga, announced today the winter/spring schedule of events for the company's Saratoga Sings! program. The exhibition, 'Haile King Rubie: Speaking Colors,' is primarily drawn from Rubie's 'art waves' of 2013 and 2015 and features contemplations of his otherwise inaccessible inner world. The new gallery space, located at 2070 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., is a welcome addition to Harlem's art district.

Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that the Museum has received four landmark gifts of art and funding from long-time donors and supporters, in celebration of the centennial of its Department of Asian Art. These transformative gifts include nearly 1,300 Asian works of art from Florence and Herbert Irving; more than 300 Japanese and Korean masterworks and a $12.5 million endowment to fund Japanese art initiatives from the collection of Mary Griggs Burke; $15 million from Oscar L. Tang for new curatorial and conservation staff appointments and programming; and $4 million from Mary Wallach to endow a conservatorship of Japanese painting.

Performances are tonight, October 16-18, 2013. All shows are in the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery on the Skidmore College campus at 7:00pm and 9:00pm

Pocket Utopia will present a solo exhibition of works by Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson. The exhibition at Pocket Utopia, although organized independently from the two other simultaneously occurring solo exhibitions, highlights one woven painting along with and a selection of Jónsson's drawings.
