North Carolina Symphony Music Director Grant Llewellyn will lead the orchestra, members of UNC-Chapel Hill's Carolina Choir, and an outstanding cast of actors, directed by University of North Carolina School of the Arts Dean of Drama Carl Forsman, in a theatrical / symphonic presentation of William Shakespeare's most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. The performances will take place tonight, May 7, at 7:30 p.m., in Memorial Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and again on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, at 8 p.m., in Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh.

Due to box office demand, Theatre for a New Audience is extending its fourth production of the 2014-2015 season, Fiasco Theater's The Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare, directed by Jessie Austrian and Ben Steinfeld, for two additional weeks through Sunday, June 7, at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place. The Two Gentlemen of Verona opened on April 30.

The Guthrie Theater today announced the nine productions that will be included in the theater's 2015-2016 subscription season, including To Kill a Mockingbird, Pericles, Harvey and South Pacific on the Wurtele Thrust Stage and The Events, The Cocoanuts, The Real Inspector Hound/The Critic, Trouble in Mind and Disgraced on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.

New Repertory Theatre announces SCENES FROM AN ADULTERY by Ronan Noone, tonight, April 25-May 17, 2015 in the Charles Mosesian Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, joining celebrated director Jessica Stone, who recently made her Globe debut with Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run May 9 through 13. Opening night is Thursday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre will conclude its 48th season with Richard Bean's internationally acclaimed One Man, Two Guvnors, a sassy update of Carlo Goldoni's classic knee-slapper, The Servant of Two Masters. Set in 1963 Brighton, England, One Man, Two Guvnors is a brilliantly delicious mash-up of splendid comedy, British pantomime, and music-hall revues. The uproarious plot features a disarming and doltish Francis Henshall who finds himself trapped by farce into working for two bosses - who are connected in wildly improbable ways. He just has to keep them from discovering each other. Inspired insanity, high-low antics, and nimble wordplay ensue - all backed by live musicians paying homage to rockabilly and a certain Fab Four. Directed by David Ivers - artistic director of the Utah Shakespeare Festival - and with songs by Grant Olding, One Man, Two Guvnors is a riotous blast complete with a colorful cast of characters in a topsy-turvy world of love triangles and mistaken identities. It previews on Friday May 8, 2015, opens on Friday, May 15, 2015, and plays through Sunday June 21, 2015. Press night for One Man, Two Guvnors will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015. Music Director Marin Alsop leads her final Off the Cuff concert of the 2014-2015 season in collaboration with playwright in residence and director Didi Balle for a symphonic play exploring the life of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as he wrote his Fifth Symphony. The semi-staged production, taking place tonight, April 10, at 8:15 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore and Saturday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, will take audiences into the mind of Tchaikovsky as he expresses his thoughts and feelings on fate, death, sexuality, money, madness and love.

February, 1955: 'Is there a doctor in the house?' This, the oldest theatrical cliche, was uttered by Harriet 'Hattie' Warren, after the curtain was rung down during the first act of the opening performance of 'The Flying Geraldos', our 1955 Rotary show (an annual benefit for Rotary's Sunshine Camp). The line got a big laugh, but for once it was said in earnest. Seems one of the trapeze performers in this play about the circus flopped on his face, knocking his unconscious, hence Hattie's request for medical assistance. The story stuck with Mrs. Warren for the rest of her 20 years as RCP Artistic Director.

Folger Theatre and the Capitol Riverfront BID celebrate Shakespeare's birthday this April with three free screenings of some of the most beloved film adaptations of the Bard. From April 24 through April 26, free screenings of Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing, Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, and Franco Zeffirelli's The Taming of the Shrew will begin at sundown, between 7:30 and 8pm each night. Actors from Folger Theatre's production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (on stage May 12 through June 21) will be present to introduce the screenings and area vendors will be on hand to provide refreshments. Bard in the Yards represents an exciting collaboration between Folger Theatre and the Capitol Riverfront BID in a burgeoning area just south of Capitol Hill.
