Ensemble Studio Theatre and Radio Drama Network announced today the lineup for the 36th MARATHON OF ONE-ACT PLAYS, the biennial festival series of brand new plays from emerging playwrights.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in collaboration with The Sol Project Latinx theater company will present the New York premiere of Martin Zimmerman's meditation on mourning, redemption and revenge, 'Seven Spots On The Sun,' directed by Ethiopian-Canadian 2016 Dora Award winner Weyni Mengesha. The six week engagement runs from April 26th to June 10th.

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) and Skylark Vocal Ensemble present Clear Voices in the Dark, an evening of French and American song on Thursday, April 27 at FIAF's Florence Gould Hall. The nationally acclaimed chamber group will perform an immersive concert interspersing songs from the American Civil War with Francis Poulenc's challenging and rarely performed Figure Humaine in a special 70th-anniversary presentation.

ANGEL'S BONE, by Du Yun with a libretto by Royce Vavrek was awarded the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in Music. The opera--a bold work that that integrates vocal and instrumental elements and a wide range of styles into a harrowing allegory for human trafficking in the modern world--debuted on January 6, 2016 at the Prototype Festival, 3LD Arts and Technology Center in New York.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Aspen Institute Arts Program, Citizen University, and the Annenberg Foundation and The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, presents the 2017 Kennedy Center Arts Summit: Activating Citizen Artists. Exploring JFK Ideals. Creating Cultural Moonshots. The Arts Summit will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the Kennedy Center Theater Lab and adjoining spaces.

Peak Performances, the renowned series at Montclair State University that plays a key role in the global performing arts landscape by introducing major new stage productions and critical innovations in the development and presentation of contemporary theater, dance, performance art and music, is proud to announce that its 2017-18 season will consist entirely of new works by women. Artists Repertory Theatre presents the World Premiere of The Talented Ones by Yussef El Guindi, directed by Jane Unger. Preview performances run April 25 through April 28, the play opens April 29 and runs through May 21 on the Morrison Stage. The Talented Ones is Artists Rep's first new play development commission for Table|Room|Stage (T|R|S) as part of the Oregon Community Foundation's "Creative Heights Initiative."

According to an article published in the New York Times, they reported that 'Renee Fleming has announced that she will be retiring from the opera stage,' stating that her final performance will be of 'Der Rosenkavalier' at the Metropolitan Opera on May 13th.  However, the NPR now reveals new information that the diva is not quitting just yet.

To celebrate the arrival of the acclaimed Fiasco Theater production of "Into the Woods" at the Ahmanson Theatre, Center Theatre Group has launched the "GO! To The Woods" mobile app and will hold a special "Family Day" event on Saturday, April 8, 2017.

Cleveland Play House will close out their 2016-17 season with the joyful new musical romp, Freaky Friday. Based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers which spawned two hit Disney films, Freaky Friday tells the story of a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies for 24 chaotic hours. The contemporary update of this American classic includes a hilarious new book by Bridget Carpenter ("Parenthood," "Friday Night Lights"), and a pop?rock score by Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal, If/Then). Directed by Christopher Ashley, Artistic Director of La Jolla Playhouse, it has been hailed as "a polished, peppy, modern fairy tale" by The Washington Post. With high-energy choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys), this vivacious production is "delightfully spunky" with "timeless appeal" (Variety).

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) is thrilled to announce artistic plans for 2017, which welcome back a group of artists whom the theater has long respected, with new works, new roles and with a new playwright support initiative.

This year's Rough Draft Festival at LaGuardia Performing Arts features six new plays that are in the pre-production stage of development. Each of the plays has gone through readings and workshops in the past and the writers Melis Aker, Scott Barrow, Leila Buck, Kevin Doyle, Joey Merlo, Kyoung Park and their plays are ready for the next step.

Lincoln Ave. Previews are Friday, April 14, Saturday, April 15, Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at 8 p.m. Opening day is Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. The performance is 85 minutes with no intermission. The regular performance schedule, April 27 - May 21, is Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets for previews are $25 and for the regular run $30. Famed chocolatier Willy Wonka, on behalf of producers Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions and Neal Street Productions, announces that Dylan Lauren (via her candy empire Dylan's Candy Bar) will be the official curator of all promotional things digestible, edible and wonderfully tasty for the new Broadway musical Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
