The Weekend Theater in Little Rock will present a number of upcoming shows as a part of their 2009-2010 season.

The DuPont Theatre has announced that Delaware Governor Jack Markell will appear as a special guest in the musical adventure/love story XANADU for one performance only on Thursday, May 6, 7:30 pm. The show runs Tuesday, May 4 through Sunday, May 9, 2010 for eight performances only. XANADU, described as 'Heaven on Wheels' by The New York Times, is based on the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. XANADU was nominated for the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

GAYFEST NYC, Inc., (Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, Producers), the country's premier producer of new LGBT-themed plays, will hold its Fourth Annual Festival, a five-week event filled with new theatre works spotlighting gay issues. This year, the Festival will include four fully-staged productions featuring professional actors, talk-backs with the authors of the Festival plays, appearances by celebrated members of the LGBT community, plus special events. All proceeds from GAYFEST NYC benefit the Harvey Milk High School. Performances are scheduled from May 6 - June 6, 2010 at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (312 West 36th Street). The West End premiere of Douglas Carter Beane's THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED concludes April 10. The production opened January 20 at London's Garrick Theatre. The cast features film star Rupert Friend alongside Tamsin Greig, Olivier Award winner for her performance in Much Ado About Nothing with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and is directed by Jamie Lloyd. The cast also features British actors Gemma Arterton and Harry Lloyd. The play began previews January 9th.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Restoration, written by Claudia Shear, and directed by Christopher Ashley, will begin performances Friday, April 30, at 8pm, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 7:00pm. The production runs through Sunday, June 13; single tickets are on sale Friday, April 16.

Ken Ludwig's comedy LEND ME A TENOR began previews on Friday March 12 and opened last night on April 4. at Broadway's Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced the two plays which will be presented as part of the company's eighth annual Second Stage Theatre Uptown Series this summer: the New York premiere of Michael Golamco's Year Zero, directed by Will Frears, and the world premiere of Leslye Headland's Bachelorette, directed by Trip Cullman.

WEISS (NBC's 'The Pretender') will star in the New York premiere of THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY, a new play written by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by Edward Torres.

Pandora Productions will end its run of As Bees In Honey Drown, a satirical comedy about the pitfalls of the unquenchable hunger for fame, by Douglas Carter Beane, the same playwright who brought us last season's The Little Dog Laughed, on March 21st.

The production of XANADU currently playing The Stage in Cleveland will end its run March 14th. Robert Ahrens, Dan Vickery, Mickey Liddell, Tara Smith/B. Swibel in association with Latitude Link produced the run of the Broadway musical, which began performances March 2nd.

Queensland Theatre Company presents The Little Dog Laughed by Douglas Carter Beane - a sizzling Hollywood satire about sex, lies and the inconvenience of true love. Starring Caroline Kennison, Nick Cook, Melanie Zanetti and TV's Nathaniel Dean, The Little Dog Laughed is witty, fast-paced and has a story worthy of today's celebrity gossip magazines. The show runs from February 8 to March 13.

Theater for the New City is pleased to announce that Charles Busch's new comedy THE DIVINE SISTER will play a limited premiere showcase engagement at Theater for the New City's Cino Theater (155 First Avenue). The developmental production, directed by Busch's longtime collaborator Carl Andress (The Third Story; Die, Mommie, Die!) will play a limited engagement of 24 performances from Saturday, February 6 through Sunday, March 7.

The Language Archive, Julia Cho's new romantic comedy about love and miscommunication, has its world premiere at South Coast Repertory March 26 through April 25.
