The Weekend Theater in Little Rock will present a number of upcoming shows as a part of their 2009-2010 season.

Deleware Govenor Jack Markell to Appear in XANADU, 5/6

The DuPont Theatre has announced that Delaware Governor Jack Markell will appear as a special guest in the musical adventure/love story XANADU for one performance only on Thursday, May 6, 7:30 pm. The show runs Tuesday, May 4 through Sunday, May 9, 2010 for eight performances only. XANADU, described as 'Heaven on Wheels' by The New York Times, is based on the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. XANADU was nominated for the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

GAYFEST NYC Holds Fourth Annual Festival 5/6- 6/6

GAYFEST NYC, Inc., (Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, Producers), the country's premier producer of new LGBT-themed plays, will hold its Fourth Annual Festival, a five-week event filled with new theatre works spotlighting gay issues. This year, the Festival will include four fully-staged productions featuring professional actors, talk-backs with the authors of the Festival plays, appearances by celebrated members of the LGBT community, plus special events. All proceeds from GAYFEST NYC benefit the Harvey Milk High School. Performances are scheduled from May 6 - June 6, 2010 at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (312 West 36th Street). West End Premiere of THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED Opens Tonight at the Garrick Theatre, 1/20

The West End premiere of Douglas Carter Beane's THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED concludes April 10. The production opened January 20 at London's Garrick Theatre. The cast features film star Rupert Friend alongside Tamsin Greig, Olivier Award winner for her performance in Much Ado About Nothing with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and is directed by Jamie Lloyd. The cast also features British actors Gemma Arterton and Harry Lloyd. The play began previews January 9th.

Full Casting Announced For Claudia Shear's Restoration, Opens at NYTW 5/19

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Restoration, written by Claudia Shear, and directed by Christopher Ashley, will begin performances Friday, April 30, at 8pm, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 7:00pm. The production runs through Sunday, June 13; single tickets are on sale Friday, April 16.

The production of XANADU currently playing The Stage in Cleveland will end its run March 14th. Robert Ahrens, Dan Vickery, Mickey Liddell, Tara Smith/B. Swibel in association with Latitude Link produced the run of the Broadway musical, which began performances March 2nd.

Theater for the New City is pleased to announce that Charles Busch's new comedy THE DIVINE SISTER will play a limited premiere showcase engagement at Theater for the New City's Cino Theater (155 First Avenue).
