PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, the five-time Tony Award-winning musical play written by Tony Award® nominee Rick Elice and directed by Tony Award winner Roger Rees and Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers, comes to Wharton Center as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center series. Peter and the Starcatcher will play for one week only from tonight, January 22-26, 2014.

In celebration of ten years of creating and licensing shows for young performers, Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that it is adding school versions of The Lion King to Music Theatre International's (MTI) Broadway Junior Collection planned for distribution in January 2015. The Lion King JR. (a 60-minute musical for middle-school students) and The Lion King KIDS (a 30-minute musical for elementary-school students) will be licensed exclusively to accredited elementary and middle schools. Each school license will include a full array of companion materials to aid teachers and students in learning about stagecraft and performance. This opportunity marks the first time any long-running hit musical has released a specially-created version for elementary and middle school students while the original show was still playing on Broadway.
NEWSIES to Hold Auditions for Broadway, North American Tour in Las Vegas, 1/31

Disney Theatrical Productions will hold an open call audition for male dancers for both the Broadway and upcoming North American touring productions of Newsies, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical smash, in Las Vegas on Friday, January 31 at 4pm at the Alexis Park Resort Hotel (375 East Harmon Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89169). This audition will be first come, first serve and is for technically-trained Equity and non-Equity male dancers between 16 - 22 years old of all ethnicities who can tap and sing well.

Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out engagement in Los Angeles, which concluded on Sunday, January 12 at The Hollywood Pantages. The triumphant eight-week return grossed over $15.2 million at the box office and entertained more than 172,000 patrons during 66 performances. The award-winning musical returned to Los Angeles following an eight-week sold-out run in 2006.

Disney's Aladdin, a new musical comedy based on the Academy Award®-winning animated film, begins performances at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre on February 26th, 2014 for a March 20 opening. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the show features music by Tony Award® and eight-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken(Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman(Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and two-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw(The Book of Mormon).

Peter and the Starcatcher sets sail today and will play its final performance at New World Stages today, Sunday, January 12, 2014, after almost two years, five Tony Awards, and 645 performances (both on Broadway and at New World Stages). Written by Tony Award nominee Rick Elice and directed by Tony Award-winner Roger Rees and Tony Award-nominee Alex Timbers, Peter and the Starcatcher opened on Broadway on April 15, 2012 and ran until January 20, 2013, before beginning performances at New World Stages (340 West 50th St.) on Monday, March 18, 2013.
