Yank! has a score that pays homage to the 1940s and explores what it means to be a man, and what it is to fall in love and struggle. Intelligent and impassioned, suffused with songs in swing, big band and boogie-woogie styles, the show explores the stories that don't get told in wartime, and how WWII became a great catalyst in bringing gay men and women together.

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and Managing Director Sarah Clare Corporandy, presents David West Read's Afterlove for three Signature Staged Readings from Wednesday, August 5 to Friday, August 7 on the Bratton Stage.

Sarah Armitage is Defunkt Theatre's new Interim Executive Director, effective immediately. Armitage has a Master's in Education and a Bachelor's in theater from Portland State University. She has been an active part of the Defunkt team since their production of THE BOYS IN THE BAND in 2013, and Defunkt is thrilled to have her on board in a leadership role.  The York Theatre Company and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series will present four new works during the month of June:  Orville and Wilbur Did It! a play byDavid Zellnik with songs by Mr. Zellnik and Eric Svejcar; Juliet and Juliet, based on a concept by Natalie Tenenbaum and Sean Patterson, with book and lyrics by Mr. Patterson, and music by Ms. Tenenbaum;  Elsie Janis and the Boys with book & lyrics by Carol Crittenden and music by John T. Prestianni; and Grounded for Life with book by Pat Hazell and Bill Habeeb, lyrics by Lawrence Goldberg and Mr. Hazell, and music by Mr. Goldberg at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).  The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.

Suddenly we are transported back in time to explore the tumultuous relationship between 'Stu' and his reluctant new 'friend' Mitch. The war is a backdrop for the war within as the two struggle to find themselves and accept that their love is possible and yet fraught with danger.
