Gotham Chamber Opera together with Opera Philadelphia and Music-Theatre Group is proud to announce the third track in the nation's first comprehensive, operatic Composer In Residence program. Funded initially by a $1.4 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program has received an additional $330,000 from the foundation to provide a third professional development path for one of today's most promising opera composers, selected on a competitive basis. Applications are being accepted from June 20-July 18, 2013.

Gotham Chamber Opera presents Daniel Catan's 1988 opera, La hija de Rappaccini (Rappaccini's Daughter), on Mondays, tonight, June 17 and 24, 2013 at 7pm at Brooklyn Botanic Garden (rain date June 25). Seating is by general admission on the lawn. Blankets and outside food will be permitted. Boxed picnic dinners will also be available for purchase.

Musical Monday Nights continue in the Cafe at the world famous Le Cirque restaurant. Elegant Sabrina Wender was the menu addition last night. A singer-songwriter, dancer and actress, Sabrina Wender has a true passion for the arts. She has recorded a CD of pop music in Italy and also has an in-depth knowledge of American Jazz and Swing music of the 30s and 40s. As a teenager, Sabrina attended summer courses at the High School of Performing Arts in New York and has continued to further her musical studies both in Europe and the U.S. She has composed original ballad songs and soundtracks for documentaries about Italy which she produced and edited herself. As a dancer, Sabrina studied ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance and jazz at the California Club in Milan and currently attends The Steps School in New York. She has performed in music videos for Sting and Zucchero in collaboration with choreographers Momix and David Parsons. Sabrina has appeared on various television programs, including the Italian TV Network RAI where she was the female lead performer on the Saturdayevening variety program "Rido.' She also studied acting at Thomas G. Waites Acting Studio in New York.

Gotham Chamber Opera continues its 2012-2013 Season with GOTHAM @ LPR: Gotham Chamber Opera and Missy Mazzoli Conspire, a collaboration with composer Missy Mazzoli. David Parsons and Parsons Dance will be returning to China from April 20-May 5, 2013 as demand for Parsons unique works continues to grow internationally. This nine-city tour is the company's second visit to mainland China and is the most extensive staging of company's work in Asia to date.

The evening, which will be hosted by MC Brett Siddel, will begin with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction at 7pm, followed by dinner and live auction at 8pm, with a sneak peak of a never-before-seen new piece choreographed by David Parsons. The night will continue with the creation of a brand-new dance created on the spot through improvisation with a ten-piece big band, followed by social dancing with the band. Parsons Dance 2013 New York Season opened at The Joyce this week to the delight of their audiences. The program includes repetoire favorites and two pieces making their New York City Premieres. The Parsons Dance Company will be performing at The Joyce through January 27th.
