Soundstreams continues its 2014/2015 season with the Canadian premiere of American composer David Lang's The Whisper Opera at Toronto's newest live arts hub, The Theatre Centre, from February 26 to March 1. Straight from acclaimed performances in Chicago and New York, this extraordinary, contemplative, and haunting work will have a limited run of just six performances, and also marks the Canadian debuts of soprano Tony Arnold and New York's International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE).

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Music Director Louis Langrée announce exciting new details surrounding the second annual groundbreaking artistic collaboration with the MusicNOW Festival and Artistic Director Bryce Dessner. On Friday, March 13, 2015 (8 p.m.), the CSO opens the festival with Varese's Tuning Up, as well as the World Premiere of Lo a new work by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, who will also perform the solo violin part for the new commission. The second half of that concert is highlighted by the CSO performing side by side with the Grammy-winning indie rock band, The National (of which Mr. Dessner is a part of). The 25-minute set is bookended with Christopher Rouse's The Infernal Machine and John Adams' Short Ride in a Fast Machine (which Cincinnati audiences will recognize from the CSO's wildly successful LUMENOCITY® program in August 2014).

New York, NY - Bang on a Can: Beauty Is Power, a concert featuring 'cello goddess' (The New Yorker) Maya Beiser, will take place at the Jewish Museum on Thursday, January 29 at 7:30pm. Tied to the Museum's exhibition, Helena Rubinstein: Beauty Is Power, the first exhibition about the legendary cosmetics entrepreneur and trendsetting art collector Helena Rubinstein, the performance will highlight powerful women composers. This program is the third concert of the Jewish Museum and Bang on a Can's partnership to produce a series of dynamic musical performances at the Museum from June 2014 to May 2015, inspired by the Jewish Museum's diverse slate of exhibitions.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu has announced that The Collegiate Chorale is one of only 919 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The Collegiate Chorale will receive a $30,000 grant in support of its May 2015 concert and CD recording of Kurt Weill and Franz Werfel's musical epic, The Road of Promise.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Zorn's influential game piece Cobra and the earlier pieces to be presented, dating from the late 70s and early 80s, provide an exciting window into the development of this seminal work.

ETHEL, America's Groundbreaking Indie-Classical String Quartet, Announces Winter/Spring 2015 Season.

Applauded worldwide for its athleticism, kinetic artistry, and deep humanity, Doug Varone and Dancers returns to The Joyce Theater from tonight, December 2, through the 7th with a program featuring a world premiere, a beloved revival, and a new solo performed by Doug Varone himself.

Adding a final flourish to the holiday season, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, led by Artistic Director Grant Gershon, presents two concerts of Handel's Messiah on Wednesday, December 17, 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 21, 2014, 7 pm, at Disney Hall. Featuring 40 members of the acclaimed chorus, orchestra and four gifted soloists from the Chorale's ranks, the concert provides the opportunity to hear this riveting oratorio - rich with soaring high notes, powerful bass, majestic brass and lush orchestrations - performed by what many critics consider to be the best chorus in the country. The soloists are Christina Bristow, soprano; Nike St. Clair, mezzo soprano; Arnold Livingston Geis, tenor; and Chung Uk Lee, baritone. Composed in a mere 24 days, Handel's 1741 English-language oratorio continues to be the composer's most popular work and may be the most performed classical work of all time.

Under the leadership of Music Director George Manahan, American Composers Orchestra (ACO) returns to Carnegie Hall for the 11th season of its Orchestra Underground series, which explores the orchestra as an elastic ensemble that can respond to composers' unhindered creativity. ACO's first performance this season, titled Orchestra Underground: Monk's Sphere, tonight, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall is part of Meredith Monk's season-long residency as holder of Carnegie Hall's Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale's holiday offerings continue with "Rejoice! A Cappella Christmas," showcasing the Chorale's astonishingly pure sound and exquisite balance in an all a cappella program that celebrates the 20th anniversary of former composer-in-residence/National Medal of Arts recipient Morten Lauridsen's monumental O Magnum Mysterium, on Sunday, December 14, 2014, 7 pm, at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The Italian Academy hosts the inaugural concert of *The Stefan Wolpe Fund featuring world premieres and works by Charles Wuorinen, Jonathan Dawe, Matthew Greenbaum and William Anderson tonight, October 30th at 8pm. Also on the program, a New York premiere for string sextet by Charles Wuorinen. Featured artists: JACK Quartet, pianist Steven Beck, Vox n Plux, violist Miranda Cuckson and cellist Jay Campbell. Reflections (2013) opened the evening with the evocative drift of piano compositions by David Lang, performed live by Andrew Zolinsky. The choreography by Benjamin Millepied bloomed as the act of making love, one seamless movement of relationship founded on unity. With themes of interdependence and individuality, the mutual inspiration of the dancers rose with originality and performance. The qualities breathed with the innate tendencies of relationship, common throughout various forms of art as the multifarious expressions of love.
