Happy New Year, BroadwayWorld! As we eagerly anticipate the amazing musicals and plays coming up in 2016, we're taking a moment to look back at the significant Broadway closings of 2015.

RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA , the 2013 Tony Award-winning Broadway musical from the creators of South Pacific and The Sound of Music, will play the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center for a limited engagement from March 8-13, 2016.

Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that Dean John-Wilson will play the role of Aladdin alongside Jade Ewen as Jasmine in the West End premiere of the new musical based on the classic Academy Award-winning animated film. BroadwayWorld previously reported that the duo were in negotiations for the show, but the official word came today.

A stellar cast of actor-singers, a first-rate orchestra, and solid technical elements are just some of the reasons why this national tour production - directed by Mark Brokaw - is a worthy one to attend during its brief stay at Washington DC's National Theatre.

The 2015-2016 Orlando Broadway Series kicked off in royal style last night as the wonderful RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA set up shop at downtown's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. This reimagined take on the classic musical will be in town through Sunday, November 15th, and is a gloriously entertaining spectacle that has as many colorful costumes as it does characters. With a fantastic, first-rate cast, the enjoyable family-friendly musical combines the comfortingly nostalgic Rodgers and Hammerstein score with a brand-new, empowering book. R&H's CINDERELLA is an inspiring, must-see hit for theatre fans of all ages.

The national tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein's CINDERELLA opened at Atlanta's Fabulous Fox Theatre on November 3, 2015. The reimagined production will run through Sunday, November 8, 2015.

IN THE HEIGHTS' Jade Ewen and HERE LIES LOVE's Dean John-Wilson could be singing 'A Whole New World' on the magic carpet when it flies across the pond for ALADDIN's West End debut next summer.

It may have lasted a mere six weeks on Broadway earlier this year but Doctor Zhivago is not a brand new production, having originally debuted in California in 2006. Then followed an Australian touring production in 2011, Seoul in 2012 and the show had its Scandinavian premiere in 2014. Regrettably after failing to be nominated for any Tony Awards and a slump in ticket sales, the New York production did not last as long as hoped. This is not, however, a testament of its quality.

Tickets for CINDERELLA start at $25 and will be available to the public beginning Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available at the Saenger Theatre Box Office, BroadwayInNewOrleans.com, all Ticketmaster outlets and by calling (800) 982-2787. It is fitting, perhaps, and definitely a case of perfect timing, for actress Blair Ross: Preparing to go onstage as “Madame” – aka The Wicked Stepmother – in Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella with most of her Tennessee family on hand to share in the excitement from their vantage point in the audience. Currently in Memphis, the national touring company of the recent Broadway revival of Cinderella welcomes Ross to the cast as they look ahead to next week's eight-performance run at Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie and the gang will experience a 'whole new world' when they travel across the ocean next year! BroadwayWorld has just learned that Disney's Tony Award-winning new musical Aladdin will kick off its West End premiere on Thursday June 9, 2016 at the Prince Edward Theatre, with previews from Friday, May 27. Broadway cast member Trevor Dion Nicholas will also be making his London stage debut as Genie.
