Fox Valley Rep, in residence at Pheasant Run Resort, announces their calendar-year 2013 season of nostalgic musicals and award-winning comedies, including Joe DiPietro's comedy thriller, The Art of Murder, to the heavenly hit musical, Forever Plaid, followed by a rocking '60s musical about love and marriage, Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, then to a rollicking song-and-dance revue of America's beloved Cole Porter, Let's Misbehave!, to a touching no-place-like-home holiday family comedy, Making God Laugh.

East Lynne Theater Company Presents THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK, 11/8

On Thurs., November 8, the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company presents 'The American Songbook' where all may test their skills with a Music Trivia Contest. Questions could be about a movie featuring a famous song written by Cole Porter, Bruce Springsteen, or Woodie Guthrie, or what were those lyrics to a song sung by Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, or Dolly Parton? How about what song was sung in which Broadway musical? To add to the fun, music is performed live by Chris Sooy, Lew London, and Grace Wright, and winners receive prizes. The evening begins at 5:30p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. At 6:00p.m. is a sumptuous dinner, and at 7:00, the competition begins! The MCs for the evening are Mark Lang and Scott Eck.

The Stolen Chair Theatre Company announces extended performances of The Bachelors' Tea Party, a surreal society comedy performed by two actors and four dolls alongside an exquisite 5-course classic tea service, which has been performing to sold out houses every Sunday afternoon at 5pm at Lady Mendl's Tea Salon (56 Irving Place between 17th and 18th Street) since April.

Well it couldn't have been a more enjoyably appropriate description than the swingin'-est concert to hit Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in some time: the double-bill of jazz powerhouses Jane Monheit and John Pizzarelli. The popular pop-jazz duo Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano return to the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, to premiere "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" for a one-week major engagement running Monday, October 15 through Saturday October 20. The newly minted evening features a treasure chest of assorted jazz and pop gems that the husband and wife tandem pull out by the handful -- songs from the Duke Ellington, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Sondheim and Tom Waits. The two are joined by Sean Smith on bass.
