The Lilly Awards Foundation with the Broadway at Birdland Series proudly presents The Lilly Awards Broadway Cabaret: An evening of showstoppers written by women and performed by Broadway's Best to benefit The Lilly Awards Foundation whose mission is to promote gender parity at all levels of theatrical production, and develop and celebrate the work of women in the theater.

The new Broadway revival of ON THE TOWN will be recorded today, November 3, for a two-disc cast album to be released by PS Classics. ON THE TOWN, which features a book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, music by Leonard Bernstein, and is based on an idea by Jerome Robbins, is currently running at Broadway's Lyric Theatre (213 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036).

Just last week, On the Town returned to Broadway in a revival directed by John Rando, which is running at the Lyric Theatre. Before Alysha Umphress and Jay Armstrong Johnson took on the iconic roles of Hildy and Chip, Lea DeLaria and Jesse Tyler Ferguson played them in the 1998 Broadway revival. Last Thursday, we officially "froze" the show, which means that we are finished with any major changes. We continue to receive notes before our performances. However, the choreography, set changes, music, and our script will adhere to Thursday night's version--our final draft, so to speak. This way, we get to marinate in the show a bit while previews continue and then the October 16 opening arrives. Also, it gives the press a chance to see it ahead of time.

Additional Performers have been added to The Lilly Awards Broadway Cabaret including Adrienne Warren (Bring It On), Sydney Lucas (Fun Home), David Beach, Adam Guettel, Brooks Ashmanskas and original Broadway cast members Keala Settle, Alison Case, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Kathleen Monteleone, Jim Newman and Dale Soules joining Amanda Green singing a song from her show Hands on a Hard Body.
