BWW Review: Courtney Act Glitters in THE GIRL FROM OZ at the Laurie Beechman

A cyclone of camp with a true gift for one-liners and an even stronger voice, Courtney Act followed the yellow brick road past the crowd to hit the stage in THE GIRL FROM OZ.
Despite several homages to THE WIZARD OF OZ, the May 4 show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre was centered on that other, no less magical Oz: Australia. In fact, the RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE alum's entire set list was comprised of songs famously written or sung by Aussies.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts continues to grow and diversify programming held in its most intimate venue - the indoor Event Gallery. This summer, the beloved Bradstan Cabaret Series returns with three unique performances featuring Ann Hampton Callaway on July 8, Mark Nadler on August 20, and Scott Samuelson and Jeanne MacDonald on September 16. Then this fall, PLAY: The Classics returns with the Manhattan Chamber Players on September 14, Borislav Strulev and Friends on September 28, and ZOFO on October 19. Tickets for both series go on-sale Friday, May 12 at 10:00 AM at BethelWoodsCenter.org.
