'Newport Jazz Festival(R): Now 60' Tour to Launch 2/8

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the world-renowned Newport Jazz Festival (August 1-3, 2014), clarinetist/saxophonist Anat Cohen, vocalist/pianist Karrin Allyson, bassists Larry Grenadier and Ben Allison, pianist Peter Martin, guitarist Mark Whitfield, trumpeter Randy Brecker, and drummer Clarence Penn embark on the 17-city 'Newport Jazz Festival: Now 60' Tour, February 8 - March 30, 2014, with more dates during June, July and August in North America and Europe.

Acclaimed jazz percussionist and former Loyola student Brian Blade will perform in two concerts Saturday, March 9 as part of the 44th Annual Jazz Festival at Loyola University New Orleans. Held in the Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall located in the Communications/Music Complex, the two-day festival is presented by Loyola's Jazz Studies Program. In addition to Saturday's concerts, the festival also includes a free performance by the Loyola Faculty Jazz Septet Friday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m. in Roussel Hall.

The Hollywood Bowl proudly presents Joni's Jazz, a concert featuring special guests performing works from the jazz-based recordings of the iconic singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell.* Artists include Herbie Hancock, Kurt Elling, Glen Hansard, Aimee Mann, Chaka Khan, Wayne Shorter and Cassandra Wilson. Backed by an all-star ensemble with arrangements by drummer Brian Blade and pianist Jon Cowherd, Joni's Jazz takes place on Wednesday, August 17 at 8 PM and includes a complete performance of her 1975 masterpiece The Hissing of Summer Lawns.
