RISE BAR is seeking its next RISING STAR! Hosted by Broadway's Marty Thomas (Xanadu, The Secret Garden, Wicked), the RISING STAR competition begins Sunday March 6! The contestants will be competing in a 10 week elimination style contest for a $1000 cash prize and paid bookings at RISE Bar with their respective solo show. In addition to its cash and prize package, RISING STAR is offering networking opportunities with guest celebrity judges, fantastic exposure and valuable live stage experience. The winner will receive a headshot package by Claire Buffie photography. They will also receive a demo package provided by Yasuhiko Fukuoka. Competition judges Courtney Reed and Jelani Remy also donated generous prize packages from THE LION KING And ALADDIN on Broadway.

Haul out the holly and put up the tree because Scott Nevins (one of the breakout stars of Bravo TV's hit show The People's Couch) just brought his star-studded holiday benefit SPARKLE: An All-Star Holiday Concert back to NYC for the 4rd year in a row! Featuring another high wattage, star power cast of performers from the worlds of Broadway, television, film and the music industry, this one night only extravaganza took place at The Cutting Room and will benefit the programs and services of The Actors Fund (www.actorsfund.org). The Broadway at Birdland series was proud to present actor/singer Erich Bergen, who made a triumphant return to the Birdland stage on Sunday and Monday, June 21 and 22. Erich last played the historic music room in December for two sold out performances. The musical director was Michael Orland, of 'American Idol' fame. Scroll down for photos!

Best known for his performance as Bob Gaudio in the Clint Eastwood film 'Jersey Boys,' and the current hit CBS drama 'Madam Secretary,' Erich brought his dry wit, smooth vocals, ten piece band, three background singers and two-toned shoes to the Birdland stage, featuring songs from his stage and screen career, and material from his two EP releases. Young Actors' Theatre Camp Program Directors Shawn Ryan and John Ainsworth announced today that several stars of stage and screen - including two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (ABC's 'Bunheads,' Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes), Darren Criss (Fox's 'Glee,' How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Jonathan Groff (Fox's 'Glee', Spring Awakening) Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Stars' 'Spartacus', CW's 'Vampire Diaries'), Naomi Grossman (FX's 'American Horror Story') and Jim O'Heir (NBC's 'Parks and Recreation') - will lead master classes at the Young Actors' Theatre Camp taking place June 24 - July 30, 2013.

The engaging and amusing show VOCA PEOPLE started life as an overnight YouTube sensation. It is now a world-renowned theatrical experience that has been produced in over 20 countries since its inception in 2009. It recently closed a long and highly successful Off-Broadway run at New World Stages before going on tour in the United States. My personal love for VOCA PEOPLE began when I had the pleasure of seeing them perform at Broadway in Bryant Park this past summer and was solidified by seeing the full show in Houston on Saturday.

Home to some wonderfully strange and unique characters, San Francisco should have no trouble welcoming the Voca People. Hailing from planet Voca, the unusual group crash-lands its spaceship in the city every night through June 17, bringing with them non-stop comedy and mannerisms and costumes similar to those of the famed Blue Man Group.

On Monday, May 28, YouTube sensation, chanteuse and high-end vocal coach Miranda Sings made her tenth sold-out concert appearance as part of the Broadway at Birdland series. Seth Rudetsky acted as musical director/pianist, jazz violinist Aaron Weinstein got some brush-up suggestions from 'violimnist' Miranda, and Adam Pascal, currently starring on Broadway in Memphis, subjected himself to the diva's sensitive and pitch-perfect critiques. As always, the show was filled with improvisation, a few hit songs, magic tricks, and dramatic readings of the lady's own hate mail. The wacked-out superstar (in reality, California native Colleen Ballinger) continues to perform her one-woman show in sold-out nightclubs and theaters in New York, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Dublin, and Sydney.
