Rehearsals are set to begin on Tuesday, July 25 for the Playwrights Horizons New York premiere production of For Peter Pan on her 70th Birthday, a new play by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Sarah Ruhl (Stage Kiss, Dead Man's Cell Phone at Playwrights; In the Next Room, or the vibrator play; The Clean House).

Worst First Kiss Productions Present DOG SEES GOOD at The Blank Theater in Hollywood, CA. Directed by Jonah Platt, the production is fresh off its run from the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Their Encore performance takes place this upcoming weekend at The Blank Theater.

Worst First Kiss Productions is proud to announce a two-week extension of its critically acclaimed production of DOG SEES GOD, following a sold-out run at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. The production, directed by Jonah Platt, will perform 4 additional performances at The Blank Theater in Hollywood today July 15th at 2pm & 5pm, Sunday July 16th at 6 pm, and Sunday July 23rd 6pm. There will also be a special Encore performance today July 22nd at 2 pm as part of the Fringe Encores Awards, which represent the best of the Hollywood Fringe as selected by venue producers, based on artistic merit and commercial potential.

Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play will be the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.  

The town of Stratford is alive again with the sound of Shakespeare. Fourteen college students from around the United States and abroad began classes June 26 as part of the fourth season of the Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford (SA@S). Founded by Stratford-based charity The Mighty Quinn Foundation, the theater training program will be in residence on the grounds of Shakespeare theater property for six weeks this summer.

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Monday, May 8 at 12 Noon, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their world premiere production of BELLA: AN AMERICAN TALL TALE, a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Obie Award winner Kirsten Childs (The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin at Playwrights, Miracle Brothers).

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons will hold its annual Spring Gala on Monday evening, May 8, at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled A CELEBRATION OF SONG, the evening will honor three of the company's exceptional alumni writers: Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens and Far From Heaven at Playwrights), Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens and Far From Heaven at Playwrights) and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife and Grey Gardens at Playwrights). Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, is proud to announce the six productions of its 2017/2018 Season.  The six new works will be presented at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street. 

Surely most theatre folks have seen productions of the fabulous musical THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, making the show the 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway, based on the original story and screenplay by Richard Morris for the 1967 Universal Pictures film directed by George Roy Hill and starring Julie Andrews. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, the current production directed by Anne Gesling for the Y.E.S. Youth/Teen Program at Santa Monica's Morgan-Wixson Theatre is just as good as many adult production I have seen, given the cast's talent, Gesling's spot-on fast-paced direction and fabulous 1920's costuming, Daniel Koh's musical direction creating wonderful cast harmonies, and creative choreography by Lauren Blair.

Building on a line-up that encompasses soul, disco, hip-hop and house, SunceBeat festival has just announced a further selection of names for their eighth edition next 19th - 26th July in Croatia's picturesque resort site, The Garden Tisno.     

Before Peter had the last name Pan, he was a browbeaten 13-year old orphan shipped off with his two mates from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. The boys know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain's cabin, containing a precious, otherworldly cargo, given to a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training, who realizes that the trunk's precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful it must never fall into the wrong hands. During the journey, the ship is taken over by pirates - led by the fearsome Black Stache (who will later be known as Captain Hook in The Adventures of Peter Pan) - a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own, making the journey quickly become a thrilling adventure. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.
