The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines is scheduled to bring some of Broadway's most acclaimed and loved shows to Iowan audiences during their 2012-2013 season. Shows included in the standard season package include the national tours of LES MISERABLES, WAR HORSE, THE BOOK OF MORMON, JEKYLL & HYDE, and MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. Theater League has announced the 2013-2014 Thousand Oaks Broadway Series Live! at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. It is a season of spectacular National Tours featuring new shows fresh from Broadway and classic Broadway favorites. This noteworthy season full of sensational music kicks off with MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, a sparkling new production based on a legendary recording session; THEADDAMS FAMILY, a brand-new Broadway hit inspired by the classic television series; MAMMA MIA!, showcasing the magic of ABBA, with timeless songs and enchanting love; and WEST SIDE STORY, the revival of a classic musical filled with iconic dance numbers and unforgettable songs.

It's true that on December 4, 1956, Sun Records was host to an incredible meeting of four gentleman (Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis) who would go on to lay the foundation for Rock 'n' Roll, but a listen to the actual recording made that day prove that it was a much simpler affair than what's presented in the stage musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. Still, the inspiration that story provides (book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux) makes for a rockin' good time, and this award-winning show is fun from start to finish.

Embodying 'The King of Rock and Roll,' Brandon Bennett returns to the Suncoast Showroom in 'Elvis My Way' tonight, April 20 and tomorrow, April 21.

Actor Nicolas Cage and musician Vince Neil attended MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET at Harrah's Las Vegas last night, April 16. Following the performance, the pair went backstage to meet and congratulate the cast on a wonderful show. Broadway in New Orleans presents the national tour of the Broadway musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, inspired by an electrifying true story.

There was a rare show in Austin on Monday at the Cactus Cafe. Some of the members of the cast of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET came and entertained an intimate crowd with songs from the famous show. John Michael Presney (Carl Perkins), Cody Slaughter (Elvis Presley), David Elkins (Johnny Cash), Austin Cook (Jerry Lee Lewis) and Scott Moreau (Sam Phillips) came and spent time answering questions and singing songs for an enthusiastic crowd. It was memorable for everyone.

You may see some construction around Downtown Austin next week, because the National Tour of Million Dollar Quartet just blew the roof off of the Bass Concert Hall. The show, a rollicking 110 minute salute to iconic, classic rock and rollers, seems almost tailor made for Austin, the live music capitol of the world. The only thing louder than the music is the screams and hollers from the crowd.
