Bill Cosby Awarded The Mark Twain Prize For American Humor 10/26

Bill Cosby has been awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The Kennedy Center will present the comedian with this award on October 26th at the Center's concert hall. Along with the accompanying festivities, the award ceremony will be filmed for later broadcast on PBS.

Playhouse Square's Annual 'Cinema at the Square' Begins This Weekend

This week marks the beginning of what has become an enduring tradition for Playhouse Square, as they launch their annual ?Cinema at the Square.? For the next two weeks, fifteen classic films will be revived on the second biggest screen in the Cleveland area (the local Imax is bigger but, by the same token, they aren?t going to be running ?Gone With the Wind? anytime soon) at Playhouse Square?s Palace Theatre. Fifteen dollars will get you six tickets to the films of your choice, or you can pay five dollars at the door to films that are guaranteed memories in the making.

Motion Picture Academy to Honor Jerry Lewis with Humanitarian Award

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced today that their board of governors have voted to give Jerry Lewis the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Lewis is to be presented with the special Oscar statuette on February 22, 2009 during the 81st Annual Academy Awards.

Boeing-Boeing Flies Off of Broadway Today; Tour Launches This Fall

The 2008 Tony Award Winning Best Play Revival, Boeing-Boeing, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, January 4, 2009, when the current cast's contracts end. Upon closing, Boeing-Boeing will have played 280 performances and 17 previews. The critically acclaimed comedy, which recouped its entire $2.65 million investment this September, will launch a 45-week national tour this fall. Prior to its Broadway engagement, Boeing-Boeing enjoyed a wildly successful run at London's Comedy Theatre from February 2007 - January 2008.
