Chicago Opera Theater Reschedules All Performances of QUEENIE PIE After Harris Center Fire

Performances of Chicago Opera Theater's 'Queenie Pie' have been rescheduled due to an electrical fire that damaged a portion of the Harris Theater's operational and mechanical equipment in the late afternoon of February 19, 2014. The Chicago Opera Theater Box Office will be contacting patrons who purchased tickets with rescheduling options. The new 'Queenie Pie' performance date and times are:

Gotham Chamber Opera and the Jarvis & Constance Doctorow Family Foundation announce the inaugural cycle of the Catherine Doctorow Prize for Music, a competitive prize awarded to a composer to support the creation of a new work for voice and chamber ensemble. Gotham Chamber Opera, in collaboration with Opera Philadelphia and Music-Theatre Group in New York, is proud to offer a fourth track in the nation's first comprehensive, operatic Composer in Residence program. Funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program provides professional development opportunities for today's most promising opera composers, selected on a competitive basis. Opera heads to Harlem for a Big Band makeover in Long Beach Opera's (LBO) production of Duke Ellington's only opera, Queenie Pie, running January 26 through February 2 at the historic Warner Grand Theatre in downtown San Pedro. Left unfinished at the composer's death in 1974 and originally composed for Lena Horne, this “street opera” is the story of two powerful women vying for control of the beauty industry during the Harlem Renaissance.

Los Altos, CA, December 18, 2013 – The Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Mitchell Sardou Klein, will continue its 65th anniversary season with a pair of concerts entitled “Fountain of Youth” featuring the world premiere of a new Double Concerto for Cello, Clarinet and Orchestra by young composer and clarinetist Jonathan Russell with the composer and award-winning young cellist Nathan Chan as soloistsMarch 21 and 22 in San Mateo and Cupertino.
