by Peggy Sue Dunigan - Jul 14, 2014

After attending American Folklore Theater's Packer Fans From Outer Space twice in one week, the smiles and laughter can still be remembered, a Door County memory to revisit regularly, even when the company's name changes next year to Northern Sky Theater. Lee Becker, Frederick Heide and James Kaplan collaborated as composers, lyricists, and writers of professional theater that brings to the Peninsula Park Stage this cadre of unforgettable characters in an unimaginable story. A story set in 1953 where one Juddville apple farmer, Harvey Keister, saves the intergalactic Packers from extinction by the intergalactic Bears, and in the battle, saves the earthly Green Bay Packers from their demise as Wisconsin's football team.

Short North Stage Announces 2014-15 Season - SUNSET BOULEVARD, FUGITIVE SONGS and More
by BWW News Desk - Jul 14, 2014

Short North Stage will present its 2014-15 season starting on October 2 with Sunset Boulevard, the musical version of Billy Wilder's Academy Award-winning 1950 movie of the same name. The score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is considered by many to be one of his finest. The book and lyrics are by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. Sunset Boulevard is a Hollywood legend about a faded 1920s silent-screen star, Norma Desmond, who lives in a decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street. A chance meeting with a down-and-out screenwriter, Joe Gillis, feeds into her dream of writing a film that will be her comeback to the silver screen. Winning Tony Awards on Broadway for Best Musical, Best Book and Score and Best Actress in 1995, Sunset Boulevard opened originally in London starring Patti LuPone and later productions featured such stars as Betty Buckley, Glenn Close, Diahann Caroll and Petula Clark. Actor Hugh Jackman made his first stage splash as Joe Gillis in the Australian production. Performances run from Oct 2-19 on the Garden Theater Main Stage.

As BWW previously reported, she remarked, 'The 1998 production of Cabaret, by Sam and Rob, is coming back to Broadway this month. With Alan! And with no less than Michelle Williams, who's always so beautiful on the big screen, as Sally. Just like last time, Studio 54 will be turned into the Kit Kat Klub. And I will be there opening night.'
