Village Theatre announced today the casting for IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, the second new musical production in its 2011-2012 Mainstage Season, written by Brian Hargrove and Barbara Anselmi. Actors include Seattle stalwarts including Leslie Law, John Patrick Lowrie, and Jayne Muirhead; John Dewar, member of the original Broadway cast of Les Misérables; and up-and-coming local actors Joshua Carter, Aaron Finley and Diana Huey. The musical previews on Wednesday, March 14; opening night (media night) is Thursday, March 15.

On the cusp of his latest work heading to Broadway, Dedham native composer Ernie Lijoi is watching Monsters! success rise in parallel, as another production launches at The Regent Theatre in Arlington. Inventive redevelopment reveals a re-imagination of the popular musical, hitting all new high notes with its timeless storyline.

The last two shows of Artists Rep's 2011/12 season, Race by David Mamet and Next to Normal by Brian Yorkey, music by Tom Kitt, will switch start dates. This change will allow Associate Artistic Director Jon Kretzu to direct the Broadway-bound It Shoulda Been You by Brian Hargrove, music by Barbara Anselmi, at the Village Theatre near Seattle, where it has its final production before its Broadway premiere this Fall. The show was produced at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey last Fall and was directed by David Hyde Pierce.

On November 28th, 2011 the acclaimed ‘Monday Nights, New Voices' series, produced monthly by Composer Scott Alan, will come to an end after seven extremely successful years at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

The CAP21 Theatre Company has announced the next benefit concert in the Concerts for CAP21 series- SONGS ON FIVE. Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor David Hyde Pierce has been cast in the Vineyard Theatre's Developmental Lab Production of THE LANDING (previously titled 'Andra') -- a collection of three related one-act musicals written by the celebrated composer John Kander and his new collaborator, Greg Pierce - to be directed by Scott Ellis, with David Loud as musical director, it has been announced by artistic director Douglas Aibel and co-artistic director Sarah Stern. THE LANDING will be presented in the spring of 2012 at The Vineyard (108 E. 15 St.).

New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse has just announced the full cast for the premiere of new musical IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU- directed by David Hyde Pierce. Joining previously announced Edward Hibbert, Tyne Daly and Harriet Harris are Richard Kline, Howard McGillin, Tom Deckman, Carla Duren, Jessica Hershberg, Curtis Holbrook, Lisa Howard, Mylinda Hull, Matthew Hydzik and David Josefsberg. The show features a book and lyrics by Brian Hargrove and music by Barbara Anselmi, and will run October 4 through November 6.
