Award-winning Pipeline Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of CLOWN BAR by Adam Szymkowicz, with music & additional lyrics by Adam Overett. Staged in a Lower East Side 'dive' bar, this environmental production is directed by Andrew Neisler. Previews begin February 27 at Parkside Lounge with opening slated for Friday, March 8.

Can we practice goodness and create a world to sustain it? This question, posed by Shen Tei, the good-hearted, penniless and cross-dressing prostitute of Bertolt Brecht's Good Person of Szechwan, is central to the work of The Foundry Theatre. The play's concerns, and the earmarks of the Foundry's new production, make it an ideal offering from the company, which is celebrated for creating memorable theatrical events while pursuing civic inquiry and social justice. The show, starring the singular Taylor Mac as Shen Tei, is directed by Lear deBessonet and features original live music by 'indie rock vaudevillians' (SPIN) Cesar Alvarez and The Lisps.

Interstate 73, Page 73 Productions' writers group supporting early-career playwrights, where selected playwrights meet biweekly to share new pages with their peers and Page 73's Executive and Associate Directors, will welcome Stephen Brown, Meghan Deans, Peter Gil-Sheridan, David Jenkins, Kait Kerrigan, EM Lewis and Caroline V. McGraw (who was also selected as the 2013 P73 Playwriting Fellow) into the group this year.

Erin Markey has announced a return to Joe's Pub. Known for her dark wit and absurdist transformations, Markey has been likened to Kristen Wiig, Kathy Acker and Eileen Brennan. A delightful midwinter night's dream, ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani will play TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford. The sweet and poignant comedy runs tonight, January 25 - March 3, 2013, directed by Amy Saltz.

BEN RIMALOWER: "PATTI ISSUES" has announced a fifth extension. The show will now run through April 24 at The Duplex in the West Village.

Steve Alpert and Ken Greiner in association with Slant Theatre Project present the world-premiere of THE STEADFAST, Mat Smart's gripping new play that looks at eight U.S. soldiers across the sweep of American history - from the Revolutionary War to the War in Afghanistan - and The Common thread that connects them across continents and centuries. THE STEADFAST is inspired by Mr. Alpert's Legacy painting. Preview performances of THE STEADFAST began January 20 prior to an official press opening of January 23 at TBG Theatre (312 West 36th Street) in Manhattan. A total of 35 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus this month to participate in the first-ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. This compelling tale of a 1960s Puerto Rican family dreaming and dancing its way toward show business will be helmed by director Giovanna Sardelli. SOMEWHERE plays now through February 10, 2013 (press opening January 19) at TheatreWorks at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.
