Museum of the Moving Image Welcomes Marlo Thomas Tonight

Before the words 'women's liberation' became a cultural catchphrase, Marlo Thomas embodied the term, creating, executive producing, and starring in the landmark television comedy series That Girl (1966-1971). Her creation-single working girl Ann Marie, who lived on her own and was avoiding marriage, much to her father's dismay-became a role model for a new generation of women searching for independence and their own careers. On Today, October 7, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., Museum of the Moving Image and the Comedy Hall of Fame will present a conversation with Marlo Thomas, moderated by Gloria Steinem, in the program 'The Visionary: Ann Marie, TV's First Independent Woman,' about the creation and legacy of That Girl.

Bucks County Playhouse Producers Robyn Goodman and Alexander Fraser announce the launch of a musical theatre development program focusing on the importance of lyrics in the creation of new musicals: The Oscar Hammerstein Festival - named in honor of the master writer whose countless accomplishments during his illustrious career include having mentored a young Stephen Sondheim at Hammerstein's Bucks County farm -- is a year-long program that offers expert mentorship to early career composers and lyricists. The Oscar Hammerstein Festival will culminate in a weekend with musical theatre experts, artists, and enthusiasts and various events open to the general public. The Festival will launch this weekend, September 26 - 28, 2014.

MCC Theater presents the world premiere of MCC Playwright-in-Residence Neil LaBute's new play, The Money Shot, directed by Terry Kinney, extended due to popular demand now through October 19, 2014. The production was originally scheduled to close on October 12, 2014. The Money Shot stars Emmy Award nominee Elizabeth Reaser, Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne, Frederick Weller and Gia Crovatin. Performances began at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 4, 2014. The official opening is set for tonight, September 22, 2014.
