The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) has announced the 2017 MAC Award nominees.

Just last night, at sunset the eve of the Inauguration, more than 500 theaters, ensembles and companies, high school and university theater programs gathered across the country to light a light and make a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone - regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Currently in previews, Center Theatre Group's production of 'Amelie, A New Musical' opens December 16 at the Ahmanson Theatre and continues through January 15, 2017.  

In response to the recent events in the United States and all the anger, hostility, and fear that has accompanied them, over 40 performers from the New York Theatre and Cabaret communities came together this weekend and created a video of 'Let the Sunshine In' from the 1968 musical HAIR as a message of hope and love for all peoples everywhere. The Huntington Theatre Company opened its 35th anniversary season with Stephen Sondheim's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece Sunday in the Park with George. Performances run through October 16, 2016 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre.

As we previously reported, Roger Rees, the legendary, Tony Award-winning actor, and Tony Award nominated director, passed away last night at his home in New York City, after a brief journey with cancer. His husband,Rick Elice, and family and friends were at his side.
