Philadelphia's Broadway dreams will come true for the fourth consecutive summer when The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partners with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present their Summer Performing Arts Intensive July 30 through August 5, 2012. Jason Robert Brown, Tony Award winner for Parade, and a faculty of Broadway professionals will teach master classes during the week to aspiring Philadelphia area students interested in pursuing a career in musical theatre. A week's end, the Broadway faculty will perform alongside BDF students in "Express Yourself," a unique concert event directed by acclaimed New York director Matt Lenz (Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast) at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts' Perelman Theater on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 3 pm and 8 pm. Under the direction of Robert Bartley, the creator/director/choreographer of the annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS benefit BROADWAY BACKWARDS, COLOR BLIND debuts as part of the Developmental Reading Series of The New York Musical Theatre Festival, Monday, July 23 at 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. at 45th Street Theatre.

The Castillo Theatre is presenting four winning scripts from the 2012 Mario Fratti-Fred Newman Political Play Contest, selected from over 200 entries including submissions by playwrights from around the world. Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces that the company's acclaimed World Premiere production of The Outgoing Tide, by Bruce Graham and directed by BJ Jones, will be presented in association with Galway Arts Festival in Galway, Ireland, today, July 17 - July 21, 2012. Cast members John Mahoney, Rondi Reed and Thomas J. Cox, are set to reprise the roles they originated in the Northlight production.

Stephen King and John Mellencamp's new blues and rock musical, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County had its world premiere at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre back in April, and according to Showbiz411 the show is heading to New York soon. Director Susan V. Booth will bring the show to NYC for a 10-day workshop in September in hopes of finding new investors.

Universal Pictures Stage Productions/Glenn Ross, Beacon Communications/Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons and Executive Producers Kristin Caskey and Mike Isaacson previously announced that the new musical comedy Bring It On: The Musical would open on Broadway on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at The St. James Theatre (246 W. 44th Street) direct from a 13-city National Tour, for a 12-week limited engagement through Sunday, October 7, 2012. Previews begin tonight, Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 8pm.

An "inspiring Irish comedy," OVER THE PUB, staged by Saint Michael's Playhouse, July 18-23, in the McCarthy Arts Center, is called "a warm loving look at Ireland, family, and growing up."

Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment have announced that the Broadway musical SISTER ACT will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, August 26, 2012, prior to kicking off a North American tour on October 2 at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre. Upon closing after a 16-month run, the Broadway production will have played 28 previews and 561 performances at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway).
