Donna Garner has performed throughout Canada and the U.S as a singer, actor, pianist and music director. Selected Theatre: Frau Schmidt in The Sound of Music (Broadway First National Tour); Baruška in Once (Broadway First National Tour); Thea in Two Pianos, Four Hands (Charlottetown Festival, Ontario tour, Portsmouth NH Opera House); Vicki in The Full Monty and Fräulein Schneider in Cabaret (Rose Theatre Brampton); Vi Petty in Buddy:The Buddy Holly Story (Theatre Aquarius, Charlottetown Festival, Stage West Calgary, sudbury theatre centre); Glinda in The Wizard of Oz (Charlottetown); Lee in Cowgirls (Stage West Calgary, Victoria Playhouse Petrolia); Woman 1 and 2 in Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (New Yorker Theatre); Janet in 2 Across (Showboat Festival Theatre) and as a friend of The Fairy Godmother (Disney Cruise Line). Donna is on the faculty of Sheridan College, Randolph Academy of Performing Arts, and the college of examiners for The Royal Conservatory of Music. She lives in Toronto with her multi-talented husband Rick Hughes and their stoic mini-schnauzer Cody.

Toronto Fringe Announces The 16th Annual Next Stage Theatre Festival, October 18-29


Toronto Fringe has announced the programming for the 16th Annual Next Stage Theatre Festival taking place October 18-29, 2023, with six unique pieces presenting dance, sketch comedy, a musical, and dramatic theatre, plus a dynamic selection of community programming.

Crow's Theatre and The Musical Stage Company have announced the cast and creative team for the long-awaited Canadian premiere of the Broadway phenomenon NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 by Dave Malloy. This 12-time Tony-nominated musical delivers a radically contemporary and moving take on Tolstoy's War and Peace through its audacious storytelling and groundbreaking score that mixes indie rock, pop, folk, electronic dance, and classic Broadway music. 

Cast Announced for Toronto Premiere of BRIGHT STAR


Garner Theatre Productions released its cast list for the Actor-Musician workshop of Bright Star, the Tony nominated bluegrass musical written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. This will be the first Toronto production of the Broadway musical. Bright Star's public presentations of the workshop will take place August 25 & 26.
