On Sunday afternoon, April 15, the Music from Copland House ensemble (MCH) salutes the life and career of its Founding Flutist, Paul Lustig Dunkel (1943-2018). The concert, Rustles of Spring, features music that the renowned flutist-conductor helped to commission or champion. On September 19, 20 and 21, the Houston Symphony will kick off its 101st season of classical subscription concerts, the first with Andres Orozco-Estrada as Music Director, in a performance of Rachmaninoff's deeply romantic Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring renowned pianist Andre Watts making his Houston return. The concerts will bring Koumendakis together with Steven Mackey, one of the outstanding American composers of his generation, providing fresh insights into both of their musical worlds. The concerts will be held at Princeton University tonight, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. and at Carnegie Hall tomorrow, October 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Steinway artist Joel Hastings, assistant professor of piano at Florida State University, and winner of the 1993 International Bach Competition at the Kennedy Center, will present the music of Carter Pann in a guest artist series concert at 8 pm Wednesday, January 16, in Weigel Auditorium, 1866 College Rd. Composer, pianist, and Grammy Award nominee Carter Pann teaches composition at the University of Colorado and will join Hastings on the program, entitled "The Piano's 12 Sides: The Piano Music of Carter Pann."
