On March 5, 2021, Seattle Opera presented Mozart’s Don Giovanni to its worldwide online audience. Stage director Brenna Corner notes that the 1964 Hamlet on Broadway directed by Richard Burton inspired her to do this black-and-white film production and use it to communicate the opera’s basic premise. Corner says she intended to emphasize the drama.

Enjoy Seattle Opera Mornings On KING FM


While McCaw Hall's stage may be dark, opera music continues to reverberate in the Pacific Northwest and beyond: Starting every Saturday on April 25, enjoy Seattle Opera Mornings on King FM. Classical KING FM 98.1 will broadcast recordings of previous Seattle Opera performances including Tosca, La traviata, The Magic Flute, and Madame Butterfly. Broadcasts will be available on the radio and at king.org every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. 

Seattle's Opera Center Announces Activities For January-March


As the days get longer and Spring hits Seattle in the first quarter of 2020, The Opera Center bustles with free and low-cost activities for all ages. The mainstage operas attract big crowds Eugene Onegin (1/11 a?' 1/25) and Charlie Parker's Yardbird (2/22 a?' 3/7) at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. But, adjacent to McCaw Hall, is Seattle's newest education, artistic and civic space known as The Opera Center. Seattle Opera Appoints Professor Naomi André As Scholar In Residence


Musicologist, writer, and opera-lover Naomi Andre has been appointed Seattle Opera's inaugural Scholar in Residence. She is the author of Black Opera: History, Power, Engagement, which The New York Times describes as "A necessary exploration of how race has shaped the opera landscape in the United States and South Africa." Additionally, Andre works as a professor at the University of Michigan, teaching Women's Studies, Afroamerican/African Studies, and more.
